Simply put Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC) allows certain military retirees to receive both their military retirement pay and VA Disability Compensation. This means that qualified military retirees with 20 or more years of service that have a \"combat related\" VA-rated disability no longer have their military retirement pay reduced by the amount of their VA disability compensation.

Carl, the application (DD Form 2680) is short, straightforward and is clear on what will approved. Final CRSC criteria require either a Purple Heart related injury rated at or above 10%, or combat-related injuries with a combined rating at or above 60%. If you don't meet those requirements it will not be considered.

I have the forms filled out. BUT you mush prove the injuries are Combat related or Under Conditions Simulating Combat.
My Medicinal records only say “ twisted ankle loading bombs” and “rotor cuff strain lifting bomb racks”
How do you prove you had a injury during a ICT or during a Exercise

Carl, since it happened during an exercise we're obviously not talking Purple Heart. Did the VA rate you at least 60% disabled? If not, the point is moot. If they rated you high enough to qualify the dates/location should be enough.

Personally I think you're going to have a tough sell.

Carl,

You either have to show in Medical records it happened in the Gulf and you were treated then and when you had your Discharge Physical they gave you a \"DV Rating for it and it got worse over time\"
Or during an ICT Training you did and went to the Hospital and were laid-up for a long time etc... and letters and
If thats the Case it a Mute Point Bro.

Wait a couple of years their going to lift the \"Double Dipping in time\" for all retirees no matter what (AL Fighting for that) so but you wouldn't get the back pay.

Guys
If you think you might qualify for this special pay. APPLY It only takes a few minutes to do the paper work. I sent my papers in around 4 or 5 Sept. I got a letter today where I was approved for a 10% rating FOR TINNITUS of all things. Equals around a extra $170 a month. SO I will still get 60% From DFAS 40% from The VA and another 10% from DFAS If they Approve the other 30% I may quit my Dayjob

HEADS UP
I got a check last month for $7800 from this program. Anyone that has a VA rating due to a injury that occurred during a exercise or that was caused by a Instrument of War. AND RETIRED You need to apply, it takes about 10-15 min to fill out form
. I have a 40% rating from the VA SO this is how it breaks down now 60% from USAF taxable, 40% from VA nontaxable 10% non taxable added by USAF under the CSRC . The CSCR program gives you back part of what the Treasure Dept cuts from your retirement if you have a VA rating

$7800 and a extra $150 an month for 15 minutes of work
