I can't believe that 19 years ago today , I was already on my way to the Sandbox. We headed out Early in the Morning on a KC-10 but stopped at SJ the Crew was out of Crew Rest. So we hung around there for 6 hours awaiting a Air Crew. Then We were on our Way that 16 hour Flt to KFIA after they Changed our \"Destnation\" We were supposed to go to KKMC , but went to KFIA. MB was already there, We never did get a straight answer if we were supposed to based out of KKMC with MB or we were there by ourself, but we ended up with MB at KFIA. Fender was already there. It seems like yesterday at times smelling the Heat and JP-4, and Bleching a #3 Box Nasty still. Goose |

Goose Well...that sure would make a good action movie, like others that look cool but make no sense. ![]() F-4Gs never needed or used anyone to "lite-up" a SAM site. The last time anyone lit up radars for a SEAD/DEAD mission was early in Vietnam with F-100Fs and F-105Gs when the Wild Weasel mission was still in the trial and error testing stages. Later in Vietnam the F-105Gs didn't even need help. Hey Weasel, The 76th TFS and the MB TFS A-10's and F-4G's flew together in the Gulf, theres even pictures posted of the Jets flying on those mission over Iraq. It wasn't a TV Show, Its been written about. Not trying to start a Fight, I have deep Respect for the F-4's, So I'll leave it at that, I just know from being there at KFIA with our A-10's. We even went after SAM sites, I have comfirmed Kills on my Jet for SAM sites., But the F-4G's were the SAM Hunters. Goose Goose |

If there ever was and still is a killing machine! As far as I know the F-4G'easel and 117s were "First In" to clear most SAMs and hit the first major targets in that order. Mopping up isn't usually covered, but if the A-10 helped out later then that's even more mad props for the Hawg. I'm probably one of the luckiest guys in the world to be able to work the world's finest killing machines of our generation. I've worked F-4E/Gs, F-16C (block 25 (in Iraq) and now block 30), and this time next year I'll be DCC on a "new" A-10C. |
