This one is for you aviation writers. What hoops do I have to jump through to use a USAF photos in a book??

I thought all pics on the AF webpage were part of public domain?

Images posted on any U.S. Government web site are considered public domain and may be used without permission or fees. That's the blanket statement but you need to make sure it's not copyrighted or purchased for a specific use.

The exception is the use of any Government image to promote or endorse a product. In other words, you can't use an Air Force image to imply the Air Force endorses it.

The PA office should be able to point you in the right direction as far as written guidance.

Dice, if it was taken by a person as part of his official duty it is considered public domain. However, work by someone who was contracted fall into a slightly different catagory.
