As far as I can tell JJ is here for 2 reasons..... they are:

1. To drum up readers for his blog AND
2. To dredge up information for his blog.

It all just seems very self-serving.

I have never liked it from the start, but I generally say little about it because it wouldn't accomplish much. If you ban him he can always come back under another name. He also can come in anytime we wishes to get his info from a \"private undisclosed source\" and never even have to be a member.

Just my 2 cents.

True Mark but, it would keep him from openly pimpin' his site here because I will delete any reference to it I see after he's gone. Might not be able to stop him but, doesn't mean we have to help by making it easier. Also if I see items from this forum showing-up on his site it would give me reason to contact his blogg provider and complain about content being taken from here with-our our permission.

Don't have a problem with spotters on the most part but, do have a problem with spotters (and Bloggers) like JJ. He should be where every bad spotter is forced to stand, out-side the gate looking in.

Here's my take on the situation. Over the past several months, a number of members of WT have tried politely and even bluntly, to let JJ know what he was doing is not appreciated. Yet he seems to totally disregard anything any one says to him. His claim is that the information is already on the internet so it is up for grabs... While this may be true, ethically it's not! Just because something is posted on WT does not mean it should be posted over on HIS blog.

He is only out searching for fodder, so shoot to kill and let him find his information somewhere else.

Dice I apologize for putting you in this place, but

I saw the WT just being \"JJ's Info Blog\" and when he got called out on taking information from the WT,

If he ever wanted to use something, 99% would of Asked, and No problem, but 1 of the maybe dozen times since he was here I visited his site I saw Information that \"He\" made you think was his \"Own Hard Shoe leather Work\", then the Calendar guys
\"Email to him\" and \"His Remarks about Old A-10 Keepers\" and that was the last Straw, And Him going to \"Explain to Dutchy \"

But after you got him on Copyrighted Material , then he turned around wanting someone to Email him if they have a Us Copy ,

So he could Violate the Copyrights, and Use the Cover picture on his site but \"Someone here would be the one in trouble\"

I just got Tried of His Attitude, He didn't care about the Keepers or Drivers, only his \"He is the GREATEST and KNOWS ALL read his Blog.\"

I should of been more \"Tack Full\" but only so long. I really did think he would of gotten the \"HINT\" and backed down and Cooled down. But He Didn't . I didn't start out to get him Banned, but as it went on I Knew it was time.

well, as a member who has no formal ties to a hog, and no ties to anybody that does have ties to one, I try to remember one thing...I am here because you allow it, beacuase I love this airframe, and if I wasn't colorblind would have done what I could have to get into the airframe, and have deep respect for her and those that DO have direct links to her.
Therefore, I try to do my best to respect all here, and consider myself privileged to be a member, as you all have earned your way to where you are. Though a member, I am an \"outsider\" looking in, doing so because I thoroughly love this jet and it's family. And to be able to do that, I am extremely grateful.

This site has an integrity that JJ's never will. Why?? Because of who the people behind the screen names are. You have dignity, honor, respect, and deserve nothing less in return. Yes, technically most things on the web are \"public\". And there are a dozen web sites that feature the hog out there. I visit very few others, and very rarely. And have yet to even LOOK at JJs. Why? Again, because the people here, and their knowledge, experience, RESPECT, HONOR and DIGNITY. You are all a group who have a real bond outside a screen and keyboard. You have served and paid your dues. You know what goes on in the \"real\" world of the hog, not the media world. You have done (or are still doing) your time in service to this country, which translates, incidentally, to me, and for that I am eternally grateful and could never repay it to you. You have earned your right to have a world of your own in which you can go and keep in touch with each other, and discuss things as the family you are. To be allowed into this web site by any others (i.e. me) is an honor. To come onto this site and treat it, or, more importantly, any of YOU with anything less is sacrilege! Anybody coming here to admire the hog and it's keepers need to do so realizing they are a GUEST, and need to treat it as being in somebody else's house....because that's what this is--YOUR HOUSE!! They need to treat you and your house BETTER than they would treat their own. Anything less, in my opinion, is unacceptable and should not be tolerated.

JJ has, in my opinion, shown none of this, and actually contributed little (if anything) of value. Not that I have contributed much of value to you, but I try to contribute what I can in the way of respect and gratitude. Haven't seen much of that from him. Seems pretty self-centered to me. I can't imagine his site being worth much in the line of integrity. Anybody can set up a site without integrity. But what is that worth?? What makes THIS site different is that it has just that. Integrity. It's not a spotter forum, not a \"hey did you hear the one about\" place, or \"hey--guess what IIIIIII heard?\" gossip joint. It has meat to it, it has substance. It has respect because you all have self-respect and respect for those you served with. And THAT is what makes this place worth clicking to. He will never have that as long as he keeps up his practices. He is in it for the wrong reasons. You all are in it for the right ones.
Having said this, my opinion is, anybody disrespecting anybody else on this forum, in whatever form the disrespect is in, should be booted off promptly.

HogDog, thanks for the words man they mean a lot. I think we all try to accept and help anyone who comes here and just wants to hang-out or, is looking for info on the A-10. As you said a little respect goes a long way and, it goes both ways. Give respect here and you will receive it in return.

Coach put it just about exactly how I was thinking. I don't post a whole lot on this forum yet because I'm just now getting ready to join the A-10 community as a Crew Chief, but trying to add a little to some conversations I felt the wind come out of my sails when I saw the blog about what I had posted. My info was fairly accurate, but I meant for it to be seen mainly by the folks at this forum...with more accurate info to follow in the near future when I learned more about what my base is doing. Heck, I wonder if I had just posted something like we were going to get 3 squadrons of A-10s and a squadron of KC-135s if he would have posted that without double checking.

Nothing I said was a violation of OPSEC that I can see, but I will start to watch what I say a lot more regardless of your decisions.

If you want to ban someone Dice, you don't need my permission. None of the mods do. Just zap him and move on.

You may consider that as my blessing to ban him.

I normally steer clear of this type of discussion, I'm not a moderator, admin or anything else other than someone who posts from time to time. I'm making the exception on this one. I'm going to ask a rhetorical question; If you knew your computer had a data mining cookie in it, what would you do? If you're like most people, you'd delete it, no questions, no fooling around, you'd make it go away.

Ultimately Dice, this is your forum and we're all here as your guest. You expect your guests to act in a certain way and within the bounds of acceptable behavior. If they don't, they're shown the door. You've shown a lot more patience than most and I applaud you for it but it's time for the, as Coach would say, bufoonery (I love that word) to stop.

I joined this forum simply because of one thing...a love of the A-10. While I don't work on or fly a Hog, I have become very close with the local unit and have many friends in it. I don't add much on here, because well frankly, I don't ever have anything that can beat a 'first hand' knowledge or account. What I do have is a love for the airplane and I absolutley love the forum and check it daily to read posts from all the great people that make up this forum.
It's a shame it had to come to something like this, but as stated by basically everyone else, there were plenty of 'warnings' and it simply did seem that he was just out to get what he could for his 'blog.' While I guess we can't stop him from this (he can simply read the forum even if he's banned), I would hope that this was enough of a message sent to him that hey man, what was going on was not acceptable. You did the right thing Dice, and I applaude you for your 'diplomatic' approach!

Next time you have this sort of issue come up, remember, for WT moderators and Administrators, weapons are free at all times.

I trust each and every one of your judgment to be both fair in your punishment and open minded in your application of BBJ(bulletin board justice).

And i trust each of you to be decisive as well.
