Since i was 18 years old i've worked in a small animal hospital as a veterinary technician. Now here it is nearly 10 years later and i find myself with a dilemma.

I stumbled across an interesting sounding laboratory job (not an animal testing lab but a running animal bloodwork lab) and something told me i need to apply for it. Now i'm nervous. The interview is thursday at 11:30am and i'm worried, i've been so loyal to my vet hospital i'm afraid to leave, but if this place offers more money it might really help me in getting a house.

Any suggestions to calm me down?

You must have in your mind that you have a job and nothing to loose.
You only can win the job, but not loosing the job (you allready have).
That makes me always relaxed. Maybe a lousy tip for you, but it works for me.

Go for it! And i hope for a good positive result for you.

Why do you feel like you owe your loyalty to the place you work now?

RG,

You should do what's best for YOU, not your employer. I made a semi-forced job change at the end of last year/beginning of this year. It was totally worth it, but I thought long and hard about it and it stressed me out a lot. But as I look back on it, it was one of the best decisions I've made.

Thanks guys, I'm suppose to hear from them on Monday. Its not like i don't have a good job now, i'm just looking for a bit more money so i can be comfortable when i decide to buy a house.

I figure if its meant to be i'll have it, if not i just look when the opportunity arises.

Well they decided to go with someone else, unfortunately the odds were against me since 65 people applied for 2 positions.

Its ok at least i still have a good job, i'll just go back to my original plan of looking for an increase in pay (or a different job) when i finally buy a house.

You did your best. You can take this experience with you to the next job interview.
Good luck.
