Anyone deal with a recent computer virus? Apparently a brutal one was going around and my AVG security program (that i paid for) failed to detect it. It was a program saying i had a virus and then wants you to run their fake scan and buy their virus removal program.....i obviously didn't fall for it, but it locked me out of everything in my computer, i couldn't even load into safe mode to scan, and i had to pay a computer guy to find it and delete it for me.....ugh. So i'm ditching AVG for security, what is everyone else using for computer virus protection?

Avast is one of the best free anti-virus programs.

Thats what i hear, but i was nervous because of all the online shopping i do and such. After just getting a bad virus i just want to make sure all is safe in my computer world. Norton from my internet provider seems decent, but it seems to be slowing down my internet when it loads.

I wouldn't use Norton damn thing ties itself into everything on your computer booting up and running anything takes an age with it, still never seen that virus if you paid for AVG why not use the free version I've never had problems with it in 8 years. Though Avast is one of the best.
