Looks like the WMD excuse is no longer valid...

I would take these reports with truck loads of salt. Syria has nothing to gain by storing Iraqi WMDs. She has own stocks that are in much better conditions (helps when you were not bombed back to the Stone Age). And Saddam ain't Syria's friend by any stretch of the imagination.

Besides, transporting chems in the conditions described is a diaster waiting to happen.

Did anything ever come of the WMD attack that was foiled by the Jordanians at the 11th hour?

Has that claim been independently verified, or the source of manufacture of the WMD determined?

Bigvette,

I would argue that the knowledge transfer happenned btw Iraq and Syria but actual materials?

1) Syria doesn't need the
2) They ain't that easy to move.

I'll definitely agree with OOE there. Syria can certainly pump out plenty of their own chem weapons. They have all the facilitys.

The only thing they might need from Iraq is information- and they might not even need that.

Then again, there is the possibility that Syria was receptive to the idea of bolstering their chem stocks for free.
