Well, after searching the entire greater Denver Metro area, I finally found a Ruger KGP-141 last night, at Sportsmans Wherehouse up in Thornton, north end of town. $560, but with 5% military discount brought it down to $532. ![]() ![]() I was also looking for a 4\" S&W 686 but the cheapest one I'd found was a used one for $750. This one was $218 less, and NIB. I love the feel, and it has a nice smooth trigger in DA and a nice crisp release in SA. It took forever for the background check to go through, but I started chatting with another guy waiting for his to go through. Turned out he was also Retired AF after doing 22 years as a 461 munitions maint. So we swaped war stories until the clearances came through. I also found that he works for a manufacturer near by, who employs drafter types like me. I'm gonna submit an application so keep your fingers crossed for me. Anyway, heres a shot of the family of handguns, less the Ruger Security Six that the wife has in WY. ![]() From Left: Rock Island 1911 .45 ACP with the new sights, the Berretta Vertec 9mm, the Browning Buck Mark .22, the new KGP-141 .357 Mag. and in front the little Colt Mustang +2 .380. |

What is the difference in the Ruger you just bought and a regular GP100? |

The GP-100 is the overall family model number so this is a GP-100 and is so stamped on the right side of the barrel. Within this family, they add a K up front for Stainless Steel, and there's no additional characters for Blued Steel. The 41 at the end is for a 4\" barrel. It would be a 61 for a 6\" barrel. So, a GP-141 would be a Blued 4\" GP-100, a KGP-141 is a SS 4\" GP-100 Yeah, I know, they've kinda left the K.I.S.S rule in the dust. ![]() For S&W, a 586 is blued and a 686 is SS. Happens throughout. |
