Have anyone seen this type of engine before? It is a really neat way to replace the typical valve train.

Looks like a good idea, surprised no one ever tried that before now.
Of course the future of valvetrains is solenoid actuated valves.

once saw a hit and miss engine where the valves were just a slid with two holes in it a cam would move the slide over until it lined up with the intake then the exhaust.
