I'm a Jr. and Jeff Gordon fan.

I know, a bit of a contradiction, but i pegged Gordon for greatness since his rookie year, and well, being a HUGE Earnhardt Sr. fan, how could i not root for his boy?

Die hard NASCAR fan here. I hail from the same hometown as Dale Earnhardt so you can guess who my favorite driver happens to be. By the way Dale Sr. signed my high school yearbook in the middle of 1980, before he won his first Winston Cup Championship.

I lost interest in NASCAR when they started cheating to let the GM cars keep up with the T-Birds lol

they raised the T-Birds and greatly changed the allowable deviation from the template on the GM cars for "safty reasons" to even out the top speeds. I always thought racing was about going as fast as possible without cheating, NASCAR thinks otherwise (restrictor plates).

It's about being competitive. Since the 60s NASCAR has changed the rules to make the playing field competitive.

They did this to muzzle the Hemis of the 60s, and the Ford Big Block 427s, and again in the early-mid 80s when the Monte SSs just owned the field.

The NFL does the same thing with rules changes.

NFL doesnt change rules to favor one team over another.
NASCAR should set a CID and let them have at it, the winner wins, the losers work to beat them. Restrictor plates are for the untalented who cant tell how fast thier car can corner, just mash it and turn left, draft until you bump the guy in front of you out of your way.

Actually, yes, they do.

In the 90s when the Cowboys had the big physical line, they installed the 'Erik Williams' rule outlawing the hands to the face for offensive lineman. It served to make the Cowboys less dominating offensively.

Just last year in the playoffs the Pats secondary was so physically dominating against recievers that the 5 yard rule is now being enforced to minimize that dominance.

Restrictor plates are about keeping the drivers alive.

Yeah but wouldn't you love the thrill of driving 220+ mph on a hot track like Talladega? ;)

Give them smaller motors and a skirt to wear. If they are afraid let them go grocery shopping. If they are too stupid to use the brakes let them become a stain on the retaining wall. F1 and CART drivers learned that braking is as important as power, are the former (historically) rumrunners too dumb to learn that?(they seem to do fine on the road courses) Maybee Lance Armstrong and the other Tour De Fr__ce racers should use tiny wheels so that they never develope dangerouse speeds.

Racing is SUPPOSED to be about going fast, not putting on a good show, which is what NASCAR has become. One step away from declaring themselves "entertainment" like wrestling did so they could continue to rig events without getting into legal trouble.

Restrictor plates were brought back to NASCAR for fan safety not driver safety. Years ago Bobby Allison took a flight along the front strecth at Talladega nearly entering the stands. Restrictor plates at Daytona and Talladega have been a fixture ever since. However you look at Atlanta, now the fastest track on the circut, and they do not use them there.
The drivers hate restrictior plate racing. They are not afraid to go fast.
