How do you like your "Fuzion" tires?

Very nice Sniper, looks like the GTS "big brake" upgrade!

You did a great job, i love it!!!

Did you paint the letters on the calipers or was that one of the decals?

They're special hi-temp vinyl decal thingys. :)

30mike mike, the Fuzions are made by Bridgestone, very good tire for the money.

PS: Thanx heather. :)

I'm running 245/45/16s ZRi's, VR rated. I've had no complaints with them at all.

Better traction/wear than Eagles, and less money to boot. :)

Have the ZRi, too. I think mine are W rated. How many miles do you have on yours?

Snipe,

I thought the V rated tyres are only good for 149mph.

If I remember right the 928 is good for 150+

30MM's W rating tops out at 168.

I'm not saying you are likely to have a blow out due to high speed, but if any tyre malfunction causes you to stuff your shark, you might have a problem getting the insurance to pay up.

In the UK, incorrect tyre ratings or a change to the std factory fit is a primary reason for rejecting compensation.

Just a thought...

And IMHO one of the best road sports tyres were the Pirelli P5000 Vizola (mono directional tread pattern). Had them on my Audi 2.3 20v and they were excellent.

But for all weathers, all surfaces and good life, the P6000 is hard to beat.

Avoid Continentals unless you want to think your wheel bearings have gone. They are the worlds noisiest tyres at low speed. Perhaps Homer can confirm this as he's probably got them on his Beemer.

I dunno, if you push it out the back of a Herc at 15,000ft it'll do more than that ...

V is rated to 149...which i have exceeded numerous times on my Fuzions. :)

I have about 5k miles on them 30mm, the primary drive tire is pretty whooped, and the LSD secondary driven wheel is about half whooped, but the two fronts look brand stinking new.

928s are notoriously hard on rear tires(lots o torque) anyway though.

I have a slightly different balance then sniper 225/50/17 on front and 255/45/17 on the rear on the 928 both v rated and handles great! (although i've never tested the 149mph limit.....the fastest i've been i think is 130 and that was with sniper driving )

Why?

I've done 154mph on the M5... It was 0200 on a Wednesday morning.

It was a hire car I was delivering. We had a code of honour amongst the delivery drivers. If you got a run in a hot motor, you had to Vmax it.

The rules were both feet on the gas pedal and your ass cheeks off the seat. This meant your full weight was on the throttle. And it had to be witnessed by another employee.

I had a Jaguar XJS 5.3 V12 on full moo for nearly two minutes. That's five miles gone by ...

The speedo was reading way over 160mph, but the top book speed was 154, so that's all I was allowed to claim.

I'm pretty sure that record still stands for Hertz UK even after 17 years...

Well, it was and it wasn't.

The road was poker straight. Locally that stretch of the M5 south of J10 is known as the Mulsanne Straight as it resembles part of the Le Mans track.

There were no other cars on the motorway, so there was no real sensation of speed.

Also the Jag lived up to its knickname of the 'magic carpet' by just wafting along.

There was a $hit load of wind noise and the wiper blades were at about 45 degrees from the windshield. So I guess areodynamics weren't its strong point.

All in all pretty uneventful two minutes. But Oh how different it would have been if I'd have lost control...

Recreate that run with another car your delivering...but beforehand dump at least five bottles worth of cooking oil into one huge puddle in the road.

I could fill an entire board with some of the stupid crap I got up to during the three years I delivered cars for Hertz.

Once when based at a small regional airport, we were snowed in. The runway was closed and we were allowed to play on the service roads running along side it.

In the snow I got a Vaxhall Nova (ultra small and crappy GM compact) up to about 70mph, managed to get it weaving from side to side and then applied the handbrake.

I lost count after about 6 complete 360's...

We've had wheels torn off, crashes into hedges, flooded cars, Kangaroo cars, exploded transmissions.

Ahhh Happy times ...

Homer,

It was fun, but the pay was crap about £3.00 an hour.

They got away with low pay because kids like me wanted to drive the cars.

Don't get me wrong, most of the time I was driving groups A,B and C the hot motors were pretty rare. But when we got them boy did we have some fun.

I left because I fell into a fairly well paid IT job and my mate who got me the part time job in the first place left the branch.

And as 30MM says, even a stupid 20 year old realised he was riding his luck and sooner or later a near miss would turn into a big splash...

I'll type some stories up and post them in a new thread.
