Would those already be Moody birds???

Those markings must be from the old 23rd FW.

I can't believe all the mods that have been \"Un Done\" over the years\" that were Major TCTO's Fix's in the 80's just next to the battery panel aft those hoods are now missing for the Avonic Panels.
They never use to have screens on them either under those hoods if I remember right.

I wish they would let us keep our \"Kills\" after ODS, some of those Jets would be \"Tank Killers\" (5+)(Most of them)

The Jets look good

Good Pic's

Goose, the mods have all been undone. The scoops caused errors in the AOA vane that then affected weapons delivery accuracy when we went to computed systems. As part of the LASTE 6.0 (I think) in about 2005, we took the scoops off so the airflow over the vane was a little more clean. Screens were added as well, not sure when.

Thanks, thats answered a long time question of mine.
I recall seeing Hog's without the scoops, then in the mid 80's they started showing up with one then two scoops.
The last couple of years they have disappeared again.

The jets at Moody never changed any markings from when they were at Pope. The 130's and helicopters changed their tail flash to FT. Those pics were taken at Al Udied.

Thats a \"Triva\" question for the books. I remember when they put the Hoods on.

jackb is right! Those very nice unique A-10 shots were 100% taken at Al Udeid AB, Qatar, 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, during a stopover either to or from Bagram AB, Afghanistan, for OEF. Tomorrow, I will check again this very hot OEF A-10 deployment info by latest pics. Please await a future update.

I'm sure Jackb feels validated now and we all will eagerly await another update on the hot deployment.

I'm not sure why I'm about to say this, maybe just to stir the pot a bit,
JJ you are mistaken on why those A-10s left Bagram to come back to Moody, and you are also wrong about the dates (No I will not tell you the correct ones). And I don't care what your plane-spotting friends say, I know because I WAS THERE.

Thanks for pointing out that, jackb! I know YOU WAS THERE. In case of dates of shots I only can read EXIF data shown on my PC. But sorry, the biggest disgrace for me since launching Warthog News was misinterpreting 79-0172 as 81-0972 (19th TASS, w/o 29 August 1983). By viewing the 800x533 pic, I only read 972 but overlooked the slim 1 between 9 and 7 (9172). On my blog, I already corrected that.

Meanwhile, I'm in personal contact with Martin Lacey, the photographer. And I published an updated post which is still in the progress of editing: http://warthognews.blogspot.com/2009/04 ... at-al.html

Two additional shots from Martin:

Image

Ladder door art DEUCES WILD of A-10C 80-0226 from the 74th Fighter Squadron and deployed with the original 75th EFS aircraft package. Al Udeid AB, Qatar, 5 March 2009. (Photo by Martin Lacey)

Image

Ladder door art THE MISFIT - 75TH FIGHTER SQUADRON TIGERSHARKS of A-10C 80-0252 from the 75th Fighter Squadron, deployed as one of the eight replacement aircraft. Al Udeid AB, Qatar, 7 March 2009. (Photo by Martin Lacey)

(Both photo captions according to EXIF data shown on my PC)

jackb! Let me contact you again via PM.
