should just be an FTD, if they want to send me to tech school again that would be overkill....especially since I've never stopped working acft...

Not trying to defend what appears to be a lack of experience in that unit.....but..... They are standing up a completely new AF Res A-10 unit. The growing pains would have to be HUGE! I spent 11 years in a AFRC F-16 unit (which recently went TFI) and I would have put up our troups and jets against anything the AD had to offer. When they said \"the group to launch and recover its first A-10 autonomously August\", I suspect they are talking about total sortie generation without the AD help. Big undertaking hiring ARTS (I was one for 7 years)and traditional reservists and trying to make them a cohesive combat unit. Everyone expects them to hit the ground running and be ready in days. Sorry, but when you only get 2 days a month to train a traditional reservist, the simplest things like launch and recover can take an inordinately long time. Thats why former active duty guys are so sought after on the flight line. The 2 week annual tour is when a reservist gets to really get some sort of flightline routine down. They hardly ever get to do heavy maintenance, the ARTS typically do that.
Just my 2 cents.

See this is the thing I don't understand about the \"New AF\",
If your AD you goto school for \"Almost a Year\" seems like to learn to Launch, Recover, Preflight,BPO, Refuel, etc... basically trained and then drop you into your next base Trained.

The RES, like you said get \"30 days a year and a UTA once a month\" unless they changed that.

So I just never got that, you think if you Joined the AFRES, Go to Basic, Tech School and then to \"FAM\" Training at DM\" for the A-10 like the AD folks before releasing them from Active Duty to their AFRES Unit?

Or is that Wrong I'm confused?

new recruits in the Reserves and Air Guard go through tech schools initially...the 30 days a year is after training is complete...tech schools also don't count towards your two weeks a year...

I caught a \"LOAD OF S---!\" for cutting them back without making them take time (Hours) away from them I would just say \"Whale and Mario\" you can go home.

I did that for about 3 months until one of the AFRTS, didn't get a cut back when he wanted it, I told him \"Hey your Jet is broke and you need to fix it\"
He said \"Get someone else to do it, I'm leaving for Shasta early in the morning\"

I said \"Well you want to take vacation time or sick time\"? \"Then you can leave but I'm not giving you a cut back and screwing someone else\".

So he Bitched and Bitched and the word got out and I got called on the Carpet.

So no more ARTS got cut backs, I just told them \"When your done turn the Cockpit lights out ,turn on the running lites and sleep or whatever, I'll get your Status and pick you up before the \"Brass\" show up or if I need you I call you on your Radio.\"

That Guy didn't have alot friends for along time.
