Here's a fun hog I just completed, submitted for your amusement. It's the other chopper killer of the Gulf War. I'm working on the Euro stuff now, so I should start having more and more inactivated squadrons available as prints soon. These are going a bit slower, as good photos of the older stuff is harder to come by. (Digital cameras sure make research easier) Anyone with good pix of inactivated squadron emblems, tail flash or high-res pix are encouraged to send them my way...

Well done, Barry! I like your awesome and well-detailed A-10 graphics -
especially your http://a10warthog.boomandzoomgraphics.c ... rints.html

At least in case of the \"Hog\", please let me tell you that your A-10 artwork looks to me much better than most of Chris Davey's \"sterile\" artwork of F-16s, F-15Es and B-1Bs, published in latest Osprey´s Combat Aircraft books.

For any future A-10 book projects by me you would be the number one illustrator!

Right now I'm trying to make profiles of hogs of the inactivated squadrons. It's slower going because available photos are harder to find. I will also probably finish up a starboard side profile, since I've already done the nose. That would enable me to make some interesting prints showing more nose art and some battle damaged hogs.

I also want to eventually have ordnance I can sling underneath the aircraft.

I would like to do a print of 79-0196, but I only have one decent photo of it so far. I'll probably just do the Euro hogs rather randomly, as reference becomes available. If anyone has good photos of a euro hog they'd like to see done, now would be a good time to scan them...

Hey Barry,
I just thought, (which if you know me, is really something to write about), that when I was running a flight of cops at Buckley AFB for the 2 years after 9-11, I carried my camera non-stop and took both nose and profile shots of all kinds of birds during that time. While we don't have A-10's stationed here, they do pass through from time to time and I know for a fact that I have several nose and profile shots of them. These wouldn't be Euro-birds, but if you are interested, I could shoot them to you. If you'd like more info on them, like specific tail numbers or markings, I'd be happy to review them to see if I have what you need. If you'd just like copies of them, shoot me an email with a mailing address, and I can burn them to a disk for you.

Hey Barry, I just thought of something on that picture, I know your going to \"Kill Me again\" ( I've been doing a little proofing with him)

You forgot the \"TISEL POD\" (I forgot how it's spelled)

But I'm telling you guys Fritz does OUTSTANDING WORK, I'm not getting paid or anything, but I've seen other \"Work\" he has shown me and it gets better all the time.
The EURO hogs \"Look Outstanding!\" He did my jet down to the \"T\" and as he does them he will send you a \"Proof\" as he's doing it to make sure it's correct for your Jet.

I have other prints from other people, but There is a difference. He will put what ever you want on it and work with you.

I have had him do \"3\" so far and I couldn't be Happier.

If some of you guys had \"2\" jets or 2 \"Different versions \" (I did my Pre-GW and also my \"GW\" versions on 1 print and it's pretty Damn Awesome.

I get alot of Complaints on it and at 20x30 it's big.

I got 2 more to do, I still want 0166 in the \"Billy\" Version (Mass Guard) and what she looks like now in the \"Fort Smith\" version.

So he'll do you right, I told him he should do a \"Book\" on all the units as a reference guide .

Dice if you 2 could do a \"Book\" with the Reference and Door Art and what the Jet looked like Barry doing the illustrations,

You would have a \"TOP SELLER\" guys a Book \"Worth Buying\"

Thanks for endorsement, Goose! (You might want to change that word \"complaints\" to compliments, though LOL)

BTW, the latest print is in the mail as of today.

What's a Tisel Pod? You mean the Pave Penny pod?

Hi, Barry! Starboard side profiles (at least in case of \"Killer Chick\"'s damaged jet and ordnance options would be a great addition to your outstanding artwork. But in case of illustrating A-10 OEF and OIF combat loadouts (most wanted by me), a front view profile together with an underwing profile would be the very best. For such a project, I can provide you a lot of archived official USAF pictures and private shots. Some of them are already posted to the Warthog Combat Loadouts section on my blog Warthog News.

Fritz: Yeah, Goose is talking about the Pave Penny Pod...the acronym he was reaching for is TISL. Same thing, though. Also, when he brought it up, I looked back at the print, and it looks like your Pave Penny Pylon is situated a little farther aft than it should be. It might just be me, though...anyone else notice?

Thought it was just me. Yup, the PP pylon is about half its length too far back. The windscreen bow should line up at about the centerline of the pylon.

Crap, I think you may be right. I've got it a bit aft of where it should be. Argghh.

That'll keep me busy

Well, I've updated my artwork to improve the placement of the Pave Penny pod. (it's very hard to judge placement from photos, because lens parallax keeps everything a bit askew) Fixing all the old profiles is going to be a headache, but I can do it. Below is \"Killer Chicks\" hog with the more accurate placement of the pylon. Does this look right to you eagle-eyes?

Barry

With the Gear Down on my 2 prints, it's hard to tell, most prints I've seen or have they don't even have the pod on it or pylon.

Mine have \"Gear Down\" so after reading your email , it's not even noticeable .even on my photo's I sent you with the gear down.
The Gear-up\" I should of caught, MY BAD.

The Chief has it right

I think your best bet Barry, put a \"Red Cover\" on the POD(Gear Down) after installing, the Cover should be \"almost exactly lined up with the end of the nose door. That'll help with placement.

Check that Walk Around Book, I think it has the \"Placement\" or I'll find that load out sheet and scan it for you.

I'll Keep mine , No one is getting it Off My Wall.
:D

You Got me though, I always thought they put the \"23rd FW\" on the back bone like the \"Old Days \" where the \"23rd TFW\" Patch was.

I just noticed the 74th and 75th did put them there and the \"Old Mans\" jet I think was the one with the \"4\" patches 74th ,75th, 23rd FW and \"?\" patch on it's back bone.
I just saw that in a book.

I \"miss the Euro\" days.

Hmm, red cover is an interesting idea for pod. Maybe I should add more \"remove before flight\" stuff, like an engine cover, too? Might be a cool option.

I'm fixing all the pods now. Only seventeen more to go...woohoo! Nobody buy anything for a couple days while I sort this out LOL.

Hey Barry,

You send everyone a \"Proof\" at least 3 times\" before printing so I'd strike the \"Don't buy anything for a few days\"

I'd stay away from the \"Cover's etc.. \" unless someone ask for them.
My covers were always had \"Brunt Straps\", the plugs were always \"Screwed-up, the only thing you might do is put the gear pins in and the PP cover.

But You'd be the \"Only One\" who does a A-10 Print\" not only with the gear down, but with that much detail.

I'd do it only if asked or requested. The Door Art is already pretty detailed.

I'd be watching some of these other \"Print sites\" now, that do the custom prints. I haven't found one with the gear down . They might put more \"Title and Story, Patches\" but their just a Generic \"Print\" they'll put the Number on , but you can't read the crew block.

Make sure someone isn't lifting your \"Prints\". I'm not worried about the \"WT\" family but for the \"Trolls\" you better Water Mark these 3 prints asap.

Sorry to cause you all the work, just happened to catch my eye when I scrolled up and looked. Your prints do look amazing, though, don't get me wrong! Just wanted to see if I was off my rocker or not and help you do the best you can. Keep up the good work!

WOW Barry, you really should keep your prints out of the rain. Amazing how the water marks actually spell out words.

No worries, that's why I post here. You guys are the experts.

I'm kicking myself for not catching it earlier. There are about a half dozen things I would've done differently if I was starting from scratch again. For one thing, I launched into the project without only a single book on the A-10, which made things more challenging than they needed to be. I now have a pretty good collection.

Experience is a comb mother nature gives you after all your hair falls out.

Barry, That's a water mark Bro!!!

I said something too him about it, reason is I figured out a way to lift the image off the site.
I just don't want a \"Troll\" stealing it you guys know what I'm talking about.

I see MY PHOTO'S (I have the NEG's still) being used on other sites and SOMEONE ELSE saying \"Their the ones WHO COPYRIGHTED THEM\"
[bs] [bs]

So that's why it came up. I know they were lifted here because I only showed them here, but the people who say \"There Theirs\" Ain't from here.

I don't care what they do, but DON'T say that it's \"THEIR PROPERTY WHEN IT'S NOT\"

Damn Trolls!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those of you who haven't ordered prints from Fritz my question is....WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?!?! I've only seen the low rez versions of the two he is doing custom for me...my jet from the 25th (Osan) and 70th (Moody).

They are amazing!!!
