I'm trying to find out more info on this particular paint scheme....it's a ghost grey type, well....just see the photo for yourself. This model was recently released.

I found this on airliners.net, if you look at the front you can see it's the same paint scheme.

Anyone have any info on the time frame and also if any other units used this besides Spangdahlem A-10s?

There is only one authorized paint scheme for the A-10. The differences you see are due to paint age, cleanliness and lighting. The paint used has specific characteristics that react differently in different lighting conditions.

Coach is right there is only one paint scheme for the A-10. Of course because of the above mentioned items modeling companies (and others) misinterpret pictures (and other data) and come up with their own schemes like the one on the model pictured.

Not to be a non believer or ruffle any feathers, but comparing pictures of all A-10s and then these SP ones, this looks too different to be just the normal A-10 scheme.

Anyone have Don Logan's first A-10 book handy? Flip to 140, the start of the SP jets, and it seems to be a different scheme than the norm. He even writes \"All A-10s at Spangdhalem AB were painted in a version of the Ghost Grays camouflage, but did not have the false canopy.\" The most telling difference to me is the wavy lines in the front of the jets and then no two tone on the engine nacelle. Now I know on some jets the fading and the colors can almost be identical and that line can really appear as not there and the two grays look the same, but I can't see how a wavy line would appear just from light and angle.

You guys have a connection with the A-10, Don Logan is just an author of a book, and I'm just a guy who loves the jet.....so I'm not trying to undermine anyone's information, I'm just having a hard time believing that this is not some sort of different scheme.

When the gray scheme was re-introduced in '92, the last remaining jets at Bentwaters being prepared for transfer to SP were painted in a non standard version of the 'ghost gray'.
May have been done at Bentwaters??
Instead of the darker shade being swept up the fuselage sides, as we see today, it just ran pretty much straight along, and as Don Logan said, without the false canopy.
This lasted until the jets were due for a repaint, then they received the standard version as seen across the fleet.
These were the only jets that were painted in, what was the paint shops own interpretation of the sheme.

I have photo's........but, due to incompatibility issues between Vista and my scanner, I can't scan them in.
