On every pic I've seen, the right wings foward edge of the landing gear pod is painted black and the left wing is grey. Now I understand that the left wing has the refueling port and with black paint it may get hot in there. So why is every units A-10s have a mismatched color scheme?? Is it just to make it that much uglier? Thanks In Advance |

Right pod is the ILS receiver. Left is W79, and the refueling door. The right pod is black because that is a rubber coating called \"rain erosion\". It is an errosion proof covering that covers the ILS antenna. |

They repainted the Gate Guard A-10 when I was at Pope, and did the left gear pod tip in black also. It looked weird as hell. |

Yeah after only seeing it grey for so long it would look weird. |
