yeap, 76th is back... and Goose, you'll be happy to know the tailflash on the CC's aircraft is red with a 76 on it. Wish I had the camera when they towed it by, but I'm sure one of the AD guys here can get a photo of it for you.

..and it comes full circle, the 74th, 75th, and 76th are back together after
17 years. :D

I would send them a picture of the 76th door art I have (from the late 80s) but, they would not appreciate it. Heard through the grapevine they painted over all the door art at Moody including 272 which was (as far as I know) was the oldest A-10 door art in the fleet. :cry:

No not one of those Deals!!!!!!! :( No Door Art [mad] ,

PK, your First Job when you get there is to see LTC James and Show him that the 76th \"Always Had Door Art\", , When the 74th and 75th painted over theres We kept it and come up with those Great Doors.

The 76th has set the records, done its time had its \"Hero's\" ,
\"Fish and Marks\" Highest Tank Kills in 1 day by a 2 ship, 1 POW, LTC Starr and all of our \"SANDY PILOTS\" we had at one time we had more NAM Pilots than any other A-10 outfit and those Guys were Our Hero's along with the NAM Crew Dawgs we had.

Set the Coronet Warrior Record in \"III\" against the Newest jets in the Fleet(F-16 &F-15's) with the Most FMC jets after 30 days of Sim Combat Flying with live weapons working out of only RISK Kits and No Facilities . 76th TFS/AMU and 23rd TASS Nail FAC, our first time working together did that.

Plus the 76th was the First A-10 unit to see combat in Grenada, it might of not been much but they dropped.

Plus the 76th Flew to TEAM Spirt in the ROK from England AFB,

Have to get one of the \"Old Pilots\" to get with \"MGEN R\" to talk with your CC and explain the Traditions of the \"Red Tails\"

And the 76th was the 1st A-10's from the 23rd, not the 74th to get to the GULF.
We were supposed to goto to KKMC but were changed to KFIA at the last min. I think the Beach was due for KKMC to but ended-up ay KFIA. Also a \"V\" for its Outstanding Unit Award from the Gulf.

So yes it sounds like \"Bragging\" but its The History of the Unit I was Lucky enough to be there during the 85-91 time frame.

I'd love to be back , I hope they got the Stuff out of Storage (Tables etc...)

Dice,

Send them a Pic of \"Vanguard 1\"'s door with the Black Background and the red background.

After the \"BS Crap\" I bet that Door Shows up on the 76th's CC Door.

But No Door Art,

Any of you Guys that got to the 76th, that don't put door art on your Jet, aren't keeping the Vanguards Tradition. Sure when we put the \"New Gen Art on \" While the 74th and 75th\" painted over we took the Risk, and Caught Flak along with our Pilots.

But Mine went to Langley AFB so the \"Stars\" could get their yearly Prof. training in the A-10 , I had a New paint Job , and 3 others went the best looking ones in our Fleet, and we all had put new Door Art on.
LAFB's T/A put a note in my 781's saying \"the Brass Loved the Door Art\"

So if its done in Good Taste, not too \"Busy looking\" , I'd stay away from the \"Cheese Cake\" for now, but Find some of the Old \"P-47\" Art And Up date it, Then you can say it's \"Historical\"

Remember the 476th has a Aero Medical Part too, and Just Heads-up the Cheese Cake will cause trouble. Even though it was WW2 art.
I was part of the AEROVAC section for 6 months at Scott AFB in 1982 with the C-9's and then at Yokota we took care of Clarks C-9's , You got to be careful what you say, or what you put in the \"Expediter Truck\" and the \"Shop\".

Naw Goose I'm tired of the battle. :( I sent the 23rd PA a complete history on 272, with pictures. and never heard back from them. I know they had more important things to do and my door art passion is not shared by others so, I'll just keep collecting and let the Air Force do it's own thing.

Goose, I think they'll have a difficult battle on the door art issue, since they are an associate unit. With the exception of the CC's aircraft (and I'm not sure about it), their aircraft belong to ACC.. and we all know about their regulation against it.

Assoc. Aircraft, does the 76th have aircraft Assigned to them? Or are they Blue and Black Jets on Lone on UTA weekends???

Dice, time to get ahold of \"Rocky\" P.D. :wink: He had one of the 76th CC birds back in the day.
He would walk in and go
\"YO!, What's the Deal???\"

Remember we were TAC then too, and we still did it,
If you don't get your ASS Chewed out atleast once aweek Your not doing your Job.

They just need to get the Pilots on Board and one weekend it shows up.
But you got to Start out \"Unit Patch on the CC bird\" air brushed on,
Oh, I forgot then paint the Old Man's Jet with the \"Flying Tiger\" Door Art, not the patch but maybe the Old AVG Flying Tiger symbol.

There's tons of pictures on Dices site or they can Email him to look at them. Its up to the Crew Chief and Pilot to come up with the Art and ready to take the Ass Chewing , after the \"ORI's and BS\" .
I'd have \"Live Free or Die \" back on my Bird if I was back in the 76th they wouldn't know it until it was flying with it. Plus I got pleanty of ASS they can Chew Out , but they can't Eat You!.

ART will show back-up ,and if they put up the Old Commanders wall Pictures in Op's with them next to their Jet, it'll happen.

i got faith that the next generation Won't fail.

There are jets assigned to the 76th. Sort of. They (both of them) have red tails, and a Reservist will crew it on day shift. Off paper, that's about as far as the 76th exists.
In reality, they are parked on the 75th ramp, flown by 75th Pilots, tracked by the 75th Expediters and Supers, on the 75th status board, and maintained by a 75th Crew Chief on swings. They used to be 75th jets, but the tails were painted recently (like less than a months ago) to show the 76th \"exists\"
The door art thing \"reappearing\" ain't gonna happen.
I won't really get into it here, but I'm not a fan of this whole \"integrated\" unit thing.

I hear the same thing up here at Robins about the 116th, it's a blended active duty/guard unit...may not be what most people like but I'm looking forward to working on A-10 again...it all comes down to the people in the unit...I've served in and been around 100% active duty units that are terrible as well...

Man it's great to be back on this board...and to fantastic news with the 76th back in the graces of the 23rd. It is even better to see the photos of the red tail flash marking the official return of the Vanguards and Vanguard 1....I hope to see this back in it's rightful spot....

I was down at TYNDALL this past weekend Three A-10s from Moody landed BUT the ramp was closed down for the weekend So i could not get close enough to see tails #s but the were from blue section

And almost as important Panama City Beach now has a HB, Hofbräuhaus Berer garden :D

I worked in a \"Combined Unit\" but it was \"MAC\" and a \"MAW\", 1/2 ARTS/AD 602nd was new to me learning all the rules, but it worked out.

But having this Set-up???? Causes nothing but Trouble , I'm afraid , I wouldn't like it or would the ARTS.

If your going to have a \"76th FS\" and people then give them atleast 12 jets . Run the 2 shifts .

I can't believe they can't launch or recover a jet yet....shit it's been over 10 years since I did and I could do it now...I'm sure changes occurred with the C model but please, that is the most basic job....

when dad deployed to Al Jaber Kuwait in Aug 2000 he hadn't launched and recovered a hog in 10 years and as a special ops first sergeant he launched and recovered a Spang jet that was flying some flags for him in the Southern No Fly Zone....

I launched an Eilson jet out of Sicily in 96 (I think) and it had been over 15 years. Wasn't a silky smooth launch but the pilot and I shared a few laughs over the headset when he told me it was the first time he'd ever been launched by a Chief..it just ain't that hard folks.

My point exactly....if they feel that the individuals in the unit are not capable to launch a jet they don't need to be on the flight line....Dice may remember but hell, I was a fresh out of text school A1C at moody in 1995 on swings...I had been on a Y cord once the next time I was launching a jet by myself...not rocket science....

Again, we may not al like the blended units but I can tell you once I am part of the reserve unit at Moody I'll be the best damn "weekend warrior" crew chief I can be, and I bet once I"m back up to speed I can work circles around some of the airman I've seen recently....Dice knew my work ethic back then and it's better now...

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I CANNOT wait until I'm turning a wrench on an A-10 on the ramp at moody, deployed to the sandbox, or wherever I am called to go to.

I'm not no \"BRIGHT BLUB\"

But My ASS, The A-10 was the most SIMPLE JET TO LAUNCH , I ever did.
I didn't get any MAT or really OJT when I got to EAFB , Hell as a SGT and the \"Golden Flow\" Red was short My first MAT Class on the A-10 was 4 months later in the 1st A-10 DCC Class.

I was launching and recovering and Pre-Flighting an A-10 in 2 weeks.
I was Working on a jet with 5 crew members and a Shitter a month before.

Travis AFB the said \"SSgt 7 level\" You can read a Pre/BPO Cards.

So If you can work on a any Jet, You can learn any Jet faster than \"Years\"
