Ok we know they have NASCAR Crew Chiefs, The Army has Crew Chiefs on Helo's.
Then the USAF has Crew Chiefs, Yes Us ,APG All Purpose Grunt,Tire Kicker,Nose Pickers etc..........
We're a Proud Breed of SOB's (if your a real Crew Dawg) Who loves your Jet, eats with dirty hands on your Jet,spend your 8 hour shift making it a 12 to 16 hour shift, etc...

Well now I see the USAF has a NEW CREW CHIEF

NEW Air Force Fire Fighter Badge -CREW CHIEF- Sew On For ABU

http://www.militaryclothing.com/IBS/Sim ... 85122.html

Well then ACC, AMC ,SAC and the rest need to bring back the
\"Crew Chief Patches\" USAFE had the Crew Chief Patches, SAC Had them, and MAC had them for Dedicated Crew Chiefs that you earned like Wings like the others.
It was bad enough I get to TAC and the First Thing Capt Fong says \"We Don't Have these\" as she points her finger into my Patch above my left pocket. \"Remove it\"

That Piss'ed me off,but what ever new command.

But they need to bring back the Dedicated/Crew Chief Patch and Crew Chief Patch. You had to earn them.

So why just let the Fire Department have one??

30MM,

Its Monday, I'm getting in touch with that \"Inner Crew Chief\"
I still have.

But your right Joe, the C/C Patch needs to come back or the \"Master Techician Patches\" for C/C and the other Crew Dawg's.
That Maint. Badge looks like every other Jobs Badge.
The Chicken use to be \"Copper Colored\" in the Sub Dued edition for Aircraft Crew Dawg's.

I loved my MAC DCC Patch it was a \"Gas Cap\" [lol] off of a wing tank on a T-39 and C-140 . C /VC-140A&B's had no SPR valve all manual refuel 3 man team.

CT/T/E-9A,B&D had SPR just for the wings, the Main tank had to be Refueled manually by climbing up the wing in front of the #1 engine and put the nozzle in it with your 2 fingers in the opening, when you felt the fuel reach your fingers, you slowed down removed fingers and watched for the fuel to reach the neck.
Go to Fast you get a trip to the ER to flush your Eyes out because Goggles won't stop it blowing in your Face.. (I did it the first time and learned it like everyone else did).

Each command at onetime or another had a version of a \"Master Tech. Pacth\" USAFE had them, SAC, MAC we had C/C patches, I've seen \"TAC Master TECH Patches\" I don't know if those were Command Wide or just a Wing Ding Thing,
Then you had \"Aircraft C/C Patches\"\" at certain bases, Andrews AFB had those , in the 80's wore them on their Shoulders to Sperate them from the \"CT-39's & the VC-140B \" flt's.
When we went to Grandforks AFB in 1986 TDY There was a \"EF-111\" TDY with us and the \"DCC and the ACC had a Patch and on their hat 's it said \"DEDICATED CREW CHIEF or ASST. CREW CHIEF EF-111 \"SPARK VARK\"

I Don't know if that was their \"TDY hats\" but didn't look like it because it also had the \"AMU \" on it or \"What ever they were under.\"

Alot of the Jets use to have \"Aircraft Patches/CC\" on the uniforms.. \"Eagle Keepers\" is another.

Being in a \"Base Flt\" at Yokota AB my Name Badge on my Jacket said \"Crew Chief\" with the Required Information until We went to the \"DCC/ ACC\" assignments my last 5 months.
Then it went to Dedicated Crew Chief

So there's been alot of Differant ways the Crew Chief's were set apart and also the Speacilist had Patches showing there \"Job\" The Engine Troops were big for using the \"Engine Makers Patch\".

It must of been Base to Base or what ever but USAFE, SAC and MAC had Command Crew Chief Patches at on time.

Here is a prefect example of Command Wide Crew Chief Patches

When I first got to George AFB in 1986 we still had four patches on our fatigues. TAC, TAC Fighter Wing, TAC Fighter Squadron, and at the time a \"Weasel Keeper\" patch with a small \"Crew Chief\" patch above it (I worked F-4G Wild Weasels). Not long after I arrived though we lost the Weasel Keeper and Crew Chief patch.

The only thing since is a maintenance badge that remotely shows I'm a booger hooker, and I only wear my Senior MX badge on my blues now.

Something that tripped me up in the past few years is the load toads. Doing what used to be ICTs (CSM/CSS) the load toads have a *cough* \"crew chief\" for loading stuff while we do the TH/gassing. We were doing one of these a few months back and somebody had a question and one of the load guys said \"ask the crew chief\". I stepped up to hear the question, but the guy was asking the senior load guy. WTF? Step away from MY JET! :)

I was one of those *cough* weapons crew chiefs! But all joking aside, I will say that the A-10 crew chiefs I knew were the hardest working sons of a gun I ever knew on any jet I worked. . . still, I was happy in weapons!

No offence intended man, it just messed me up hearing somebody else was a "crew chief". ;)

Don't tell anyone, but I have a lot of respect for our load toads. Even on our current Lawndart platform, our guys work pretty hard...and I love going TDY with these guys. Can't wait to see them busting butt on the A-10C when we get them next year. :)

No offense taken. When I was at Eielson from 1982-83, I recall our prep for our first ORI, in November/December, -20+ below zero and out on the flightline loading A-10 after A-10 with 30mm, rockets, Mk-82's and ALE-40. All this while the CC's were refueling and helping us sway down bombs, load chaff/flare, etc. We as a team were turning jets in 17 minutes on average. Great guys and gals, and that is why in my patch collecting I highly prize my OMS patches. A-10 people are the best!
