This is a demo film of the A-10 produced by Fairchild Industries, the manufacturer of the A-10 Thunderbolt II. This film was produced in the late '70s/early '80s. If you look closely, you'll see the YA-10A in flight in this film. It's hard to make out, but there's one shot of an A-10 with the test pitot tube hanging off the nose of the aircraft. That's the YA-10A.

There's also a short section where the sound \"disappears.\" Not to worry. It will come back.

It's about 12-14 minutes long, and is about a 40MB download.

Here's a link to the streaming version of the video:

Each time you place a better and more unique movie.
This is history. And that voice of talking man. Very good.

Is it good that i place this link of your vid on a Dutch website for airplane fans/freaks/lovers? I think they will like too.

It's ok with me. Right now, I'm working on getting them uploaded to a video sharing site where you won't have to download the file to watch it. This site (www.veoh.com) doesn't have size/time limits, as far as I can see.

There must have been more than one Fairchild demo film, because the clip KLAX used in the "Day in the Life of England AFB" video had a section that showed a drawing of the "foam-filled bladder tanks", that's not in the film I posted.

I would sure have loved to gotten a better copy of the Fairchild film. As for the KLAX video, I paid for a copy from the station itself. Took two tries to get it, though. Originally, I gave them a tape, and they were to run a copy of it for me. But, for some reason, the copy they made for me, on one of their broadcast videotape machines didn't come out right when playing it on my VCR. So, I ended up having to take my VCR in to the station, and they hooked it up to their machine, and I got the copy that way.

Goose, I haven't talked to Mark in a while and to tell the truth I can't remember his wife's name either. I'll see if I can't get in touch with him this week and check on the statics of your video.

This is the film that convinced me to become an A-10 pilot way back in 1982!

Thanks for uploading it!

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've transferred some other video I have to DVD, and will sometime soon be getting it ready to upload. One video is a recording of the return of the 76th Tactical Fighter Squadron on March 29, 1991 to England Air Force Base after Desert Storm. The local NBC affiliate broadcast it live. There's an interview with (at the time) Capt. Dale "Storr-man" Storr, who was shot down on February 2, 1991. He was there that day the 76th returned. He hadn't seen any of his fellow Vanguards (other than Capt. Roger Clark - who met him at the plane in Riyahd the day he was released) since the day he was shot down. Anyway, the video is about an hour long.

The next one I'll upload in a seperate upload. It's video I shot myself that day. It's not that great, but I did get shots of some of the reunions of the returning pilots with their families. Also got most of the ceremony that was held after all the pilots had returned. Col. Dick Lemon (the vice wing commander at the time) was the MC. I understand he used to hang out here before he passed away.

You'll also hear from Col. Lou Webber (USAF Ret), one of the original Flying Tigers, and the first wing commander of the re-assembled unit that brought back the 74th, 75th, and 76th Tactical Fighter squadrons under one wing. That day, there were about 20-25 of the original Flying Tigers present. The last one you'll hear from is Col. Dave Sawyer, the wing commander at that time.

It will take me a while to get it ready to upload, but I hope to have it up by the end of this next week.

I haven't found the one of the belly landing. I haven't had a chance to look for it yet, but will try and see if I can find it this week.

I've also got video from the trip to Germany in '89, but there isn't a lot (if any) of any aircraft on that one. Mostly the trip to Hamburg and Legoland. Plus, the softball game between maintenance and the pilots.

And, I've got video from various air shows. I'm sure I can find one that's got an A-10 demo from the ground.

And I've *still* got to find the photos of 0248 for Pat, the ABDR guy. I haven't forgotten (in case he's reading this). Just haven't gotten to look for it yet.

I had to wipe and reinstall Windows over the weekend, so it's put me a tad behind as far as videos and photos for this web site is concerned.

So, Goose, what do you think about posting the video of the 76th FS homecoming after Desert Storm? It's an hour long. I know you were gone by then. I don't remember if I sent you a copy of that tape or not. But, Capt. Storr is on it, and we get to see Lt. (promoted to Capt posthumously) Eric Miller and his family on the video.

I was still there but Out Processing, I was going to go down to the Flt Line but I called MOC and they told me that \"0166\" was Broke with the Cajuns.
So I just stayed at the house.

You sent me a copy of that too, their all together, but I didn't see the Germany Trip. You sure it wasn't the 86 trip? I went to Legoland and Hamburg and Father \"Ray\" was with us.
That was the Food Poisoning trip right? \"Flounder\" and Me went downtown to that little \"Resturant ran by that retired Army Sgt who married that GN.\"
\"Flounder\" found it and They had \"Ice, Cold Beer and Great Food\" so thats where we ate most of the time skipping the German Chowhall.

If Barney and Fred our on the Tape its 86.

No, it was the '89 trip. I didn't have the video camera in '86. We went to Legoland and Hamburg again in '89.

As for the german chow hall, I really liked the food at the german NCO club. I loved the Courdon Bleu (ground beef stuffed with cheese). And they made a mean pile of french fries, er, pomme frites. <G>

.
They must of went again in 89, and I didn't go.
I went with Kenny P., Hambone, Flounder, Tex and Gina the \"2 CRS engine troops, \"Red\" plus that Public Affairs SRA, I know because I wasn't married on that trip. So that was the 86 trip in May. I went and Father Ray too because I hadn't put on Staff yet. I'm looking at my pictures now.I didn't go on any where in 89 except to the Azores again as ESTA to and from Leck AB

The 89 Trip is when Willie Lau and a bunch of us took the \"Bread Truck\" sight seeing and ended up across the border without passes, and on the way back the Border Guards tried to flag us down and \"Willie\" jumped lanes and got past the Gate, back into Germany.

Kenny P , Ham Bone and Oh Hell the same group that we always we're causing trouble in were in the truck.

They were Great TDY's plus my Sister-in-Law was a \"GS-Next to God\" working for the Army in Safety at HQ in Germany. She came up for a day.
