I'm heading to Hill on Tuesday for \"Team Spirit\". Silly name for just inspecting our A-10Cs while they're in depot for upgrades. Doing inspections while the jets are all stripped down to a level we never see at our base. We've had two teams there already so the team I'm in is just \"mopping up\" on the last jet I think...and I'll be coming home on Friday. Staying at the Hill AFB Inn. I've never been there and not sure how busy I'll be, but Dice-man if you're around Wednesday or Thursday you should give me a hollar (TSgt Jay Jenkins). Anything I should know about the base or area? I've already heard I have to wear safety glasses at all times in work areas (sheesh). ![]() |

I've worked depot at Robins for over 10 years now and there are MANY things that go on that don't make since but because of the large workforce we've got to try to generalize some things, like safety glasses. At Robins we have a "circle of safety" Once you cross that circle you have to have on the required PPE. |

I work swings so the only chance we may have to meet is if we plan lunch one day. You get here and see how your day is set up and we'll make something happen. I'll PM you my cell number so you can contact me . Don't know what your "in to" but there are a couple of nice haunted houses near the base. Also looks like it's going to be nice weather so you might want to check-out the Great Salt Lake or historical 25th street in Ogden. Nothing you need to know about the base that I know of and yes you do have to wear safty glasses anytime you're in the work area. Have a safe trip and I'll see you next week. |

Sorry I missed you Dice! After getting settled in late Tuesday, working Wednesday and Thursday...then having to get up at 03:00am Friday to catch our flight there just wasn't really any time to do anything. Only made it off base the first night to eat at Izzy's. Hoping to go back sometime soon! Pretty neat base and seeing the different stages of maintenance. |

That's cool brother I was very busy myself. Just don't forget old Dive-man when you see some door art. |

Goose, it seemed like a strange name at first. During our outbrief with a Col and a CMSgt it kind of made sense. My base sent an APG (me), Avionics guy and a weapons guy to check out one of our birds. In the end the entire team has final say in how things are done and how well the depot team did. My team was the final team in for this round of jets and after the first two teams finished their inspections, the depot team had almost no write ups from us...from what they learned from our earlier teams. It was kind of cool working with other shops and the awesome depot team...I was very impressed with their workmanship...and I let the Col and Chief know...as did our pointy head and load toad. Now to see what they can do with our Osan jets coming in in a couple weeks...(scared because one of them is mine!). ![]() |

Weasel, any of the former WG jets there? When do you expect them? |

Hey Waltz, the jet we were going over was a WG jet. 658 I think? The one with the P-40 and A-10 door art. That was the only WG jet in the hangar...the other 10 were Barksdale's. I think the others were either in the fuel barn, SLEP, or at Boise for another mod that they do. We should be seeing them before too much longer. Hill says 90 days from the time they land before they're done, so I think we're getting close. Osan jets are landing at Hill the first of the month and mine is one of them (80-0217). We're splitting them with Selfridge. |

Cool...in a strange twist of fate one of our guys backed out of the next trip to Hill to drop tanks off of the Osan jets...so I'm going back! ![]() Should be interesting...Hill's ORI is rapidly approaching. ![]() |

Yep, that's 78-0658, one of the last 2 A-10s here, which departed on7.23.10. Very cool....loved that door art on there too, one of the 111th's best ones IMO. Good luck with all the new hogs!! |
