So...I've heard the horror stories and warnings from everyone I know about A-10s from Osan. My base is getting six...one is mine.

Everything scheduled, I'm at Hill AFB with a group of buddies waiting for their arrival so we can drop external fuel tanks and transfer them to some of our other jets to ferry home while the Osan birds start their conversion.

Now it gets interesting. Seven jets supposed to leave Osan and arrive this weekend (Selfridge AFB is getting a couple of them too) at Hill. So far from the intel I've heard...one broke before it left Osan, two or three are broke on Wake Island, and two are broke in Hawaii (riiighht). I'm volunteering to go to Wake or Hawaii to fix em but they won't listen...heh. My trip here was supposed to end 3 Nov...I wonder when it really will end. Not that I'm complaining...did some good hiking today...lots to do here. :)

It's been a LONG time since I was at osan but back in 97/98 most of them were good jets....

I guess to be totally honest, any mention from the beginning of getting jets from the RAFSOBs was bad news.

What's that? RAFSOBs? Oh, that's what the ANG calls Regular Air Force SOBs.

So, we originally heard our jets were from WG (good jets), Moody (okay jets) and Osan (you don't want these jets). I'll always stand behind the fact that NOBODY has better jets than the ANG and AFR...because we work the same jets for 15-20 years compared to an A1C/SRA in the RAFSOBs who isn't quite as commited to the quality. Overall stat, not anyone in particular because I'm sure there are commited AF CCs (I was one back in the late 80s while AD).

So far we have our jets from Moody. Not too bad, we have 3 of the 6 flyable. WG jets are starting to trickle in. They look great but we haven't started acceptance yet. Osan jets...broke before they get here... ;)

I feel ya on the Moody Jets...I'm in the 476th down there and every drill weekend I end up breaking them they are in such pool shape. Cracks, leaks, I just don't get it....

Maybe you should compare the total hours and annual ute rates on the aircraft before you you make any blanket judgments on the quality of active duty maintenance. They come from different worlds...

Sorry about that Coach. Didn't mean for it to sound like that. Not in a blanket statement at least.

Supposed to catch these jets this past Saturday, half are still broken all over in the South Pacific, the other half can't fly by themselves so they have to wait for the broke jets. Maybe see some in another day or two. *shrug*.

Heck, maybe we won't have to do anything until Hill's ORI that sterted today is over...heh.
