Does this site have many actual real time A-10 Crew Chiefs/Pilots/Support folks??? I'm feeling kind of alone with all of my questions and comments.

Only saying this because I was a member at F-16.net and most of the folks there were current DCCs/pilots.etc. Seems most of the folks posting here were at one time involved with the Hawg....lol.

Haven't touched an A-10 since 95. Retired in 08 and now I am a humble state employee handing out unemployment bennies to those less fortunate than myself.

If I hadn't taken an 11 year break in service, I could have retired in '06. Now I have 7 years to go for my 20...ugh. Kinda weird coming back in as a 39 year old SSgt, and now being a 44 year old TSgt still crewing jets as a DCC. ;) The cool thing is going back to an older airframe and getting back to what I originally learned when I first went through tech school in 1986 (the Phabulous Phantom) instead of the electro gee-whiz stuff that was in the F-16C I worked for 6 years. I'm really digging the Hog. :)

I spent the first 4 years of my AF career as an A-10 crew chief. I was at D-M in the late 70's to early 80's. Worked on them when they were still new.

Okay, y'all done bitching about your age? Started on the Hog in '77 at the Beach back when the cockpit had more blank panels than avionics...no GPS/INS, no ILS, no chaff/flare, no LASTE, no VHF (well, there was the Wilcox 807 but it didn't work worth a shit) no ALR-69 and TACAN was THE nav system. Retired as a ProSuper and then went on to CFT with Lear and later, L-3 bringing you many of the Gee Whiz mods you see today. Left the Hog in 08 to work the dark side.

One thing I've noticed a lot since we began our transition to the Hog, we've become a bit closer to our Toads since we both seem to have so much to do to make her go. With the F-16 it was like "load it up and get the heck outta here!"...now it's a bit different with the big gun and all. These jets are giving me a new respect for our Toads.

I thought you were flying civilian jetliners? When did you switch and btw try to not be so clumsy around aircraft, LAMO. Hope you heal up good as new.
