Let me tell you all how good it feels to be back in the A-10 world. After spending the last 5 years at Nellis doing a group staff job and then being stuck in a F-15C/D model unit it is soooo freakin refreshing being back on an airframe that makes sense. Being here in Osan for the last 9 months has its own way of slapping you into reality quickly but, at least its the A-10 again....it has be a great step back into the community before heading to wonderful Spangdahlem next.
I can't believe how much this old bird has changed Avionics wise in the last 6 years....i was always a great A/B shop avionics guy but holy crap!!!! where did all these new toys come from? I remember seeing the first C-model come off the line and playing with it at Hill....i was a little overwhelmed and bumbed i didn't get more opportunity to play with it more before moving on. Now almost 6 years later I'm glad to see this whole C-model conversion worked out so well. I will admit i sort of feel like a 3-level again sometimes listening to the kids talk about the t-shooting they are doing on the new systems. Yet i still have the ability to shock them when i get to t-shoot a nasty SAS or HARS problem on the jet that they have no idea on where to begin at....not to mention all the tricks that were learned when developing the new IFFCC back at Nellis A-10 test world.
The best feeling about it all is knowing that i will be ending my active duty career on the airframe that i love best. PIL SUNG Bitches!!!

Is HARS still on the jet to troubleshoot?

Yes HARS can still raise her ugly head every now and then....so many of the young pilots today get so wrapped up in their EGI now though that they seem to freak when they have to use HARS as their primary navigational mode.
Its even more fun when it breaks and the DG/ECA swap doesn't immediatly fix the problem.

Happy to see you back where you want to be, nothing beats the A-10, A or C model. Also welcome back to the forums.
