Post subject:  NDAA Cuts Hogs at Barksdale and Ft Smith
According to the news today, the NDAA that Congress has agreed on and will vote on later (and which Sen Levin said the President will sign) has restored 32 Mobility aircraft and spared 3300 airmen, while cutting the A-10's from Barksdale, Ft Smith and the F-16's at Iowa...

44 sucks but that's better than the 100 plus they originally wanted to cut...hate it for those losing their jobs though!

Just finished NCO Academy and was talking to a Barksdale guy at school. He said everyone's already jumping ship. Maybe 10 Crew Chiefs and 20 pilots left, and their jets are probably going to DM. Also had an Iowa ANG guy who said they're losing their 16s for Reapers.

No word on Ft Smith yet.

Definately bittersweet for me though, Ft Wayne and Selfridge were taken off the list for now. Good for me and my unit, but still sad to see cuts.

And we have been asked to deploy again to fill in for yet another unit that can not go. They just got back this last Oct.
