Post subject:  Back<--- to the Flightline!

I've been waiting to hear a final update or get actual orders, but I guess this is as good a time as any to make an announcement... I'm coming back to the flightline!

In 2011 I cross-trained to OSI (complicated reasons, too much to get into) and PCS'd to Vandenberg AFB, CA (AFSPC). Well, to put it gracefully, I was *not* happy. (multiple reasons, but to summarize, OSI was not the job for me and I was not the right person for OSI). For the record, it was not due to lack of ability, I did fine, I just hated it.

I applied for, and thankfully was approved a release from OSI to return to my original career field. That was approved in October. Since I'm at a base with no planes, I've been in the phantom zone since then. Does the AF PCS me far ahead of schedule to a base where a Crew Chief can work? Do they give me a more permanent job (on a temporary basis though, I am a still a 2A373, never lost my AFSC and that's what I am returning to. This will not consist of cross training again to something else) on this base until I hit my normal PCS window? Who knows. I'm just waiting on orders right now. Doing busy work until they arrive.

Bottom line... I'm BACK! To the job I've always loved, even when I hated it.

Way to get back!

There have been a few times I thought about cross training, especially when it's snowing and freezing on the line...but then I remember that even though it sucks at times, I'll always be a Crew Chief. Been working the line since '86 and probably will be until 2027. ;)
