I've got a question, about how many Aircraft does the Air Force run? I've be told by two diffrent people that A: the Navy runs more Aircraft and B: the Army Runs more aircraft (including helos). I found it hard to belive that ether one had more Aircraft than the AF. is it true?

Including the Air National Guard and USAF Reserve, I would have to speculate that the USAF has the greatest number of aircraft in it's inventory. Remeber that the USAF is also encompases what was once SAC, TAC, and MAC into ACC (Air Combat Command).........If Tom Clancy's research is correct ACC boasts a force of 3,230 aircraft in the 1st, 8th, 9th, and 12th Air Forces.

In comparison the US Navy is committed to mantaining 12 aircraft carrier battle groups (CVBG) with a compliment of 90 aircraft each. There are 42 squadrons of aircraft in the U.S. Navy Reserve (including helo's). Even when you add up the USMC and US Navy aircraft inventory it still falls short of the USAF's aircraft inventory.

If you are not having fun, you are not doing it right!

On top of all those planes just mentioned do not forget those not in ACC or AMC. How about 19th AF? They fly all the trainers...between 6 training bases now there are literally hundreds of trainers from the T37 to T38 to T1 to T6 etc.....

The Navy has trainers too (T34s, T6s soon, T45s, T2s if any are still left) but their training program is nowhere near the scale of the air force. The number of pilots trained per year also give an indication of how many planes each force has and the air force trains a LOT of new pilots per year.

Actually, it might just be the Army.

I don't have any exact figures to post other than to say there are many thousands of helos in service in the US Army.

It would be interesting to see the exact figures.

Can't prove it, but long ago I heard that the Army runs more airplanes than the Air Force (counting helos, obviously) and runs more boats than the Navy.

I wouldn't be surprised, though.
