Hello,
I was looking through the gallery and came upon the series of crash pictures on page 14 and am wanting to know if anybody could identify the pilot/plane? It appeared to be from the 81st in Spangdahlem. I used to be a crewchief out at the 81st and the pictures sent chills up my spine and would like to know if it was anyone I might have known. Thank you!

Those were from the Paris Air Show in about 1977. Not sure of the exact date. The pilot was Tommy Thompson, I think.

The pilot was the chief test pilot for Fairchild Republic. His name was Howard Nelson but was known as Sam Nelson to us.
