..who’s seen an A-10 gun run from a “receives” point of view? I would be interested in someone who has seen and A-10 gun attack and it’s aftermath from the ground, I would really like a tale from Kosovo or Bosnia. Yes this may be included in a book so I would need verification of the persons unit and permission for the story to be used in print. Ugly but well hung! |

Im sorry Dice, i have been distracted by current events. Yes, i will find you someone for your book that has seen the A-10 in action. I have only ever seen the A-7 and AC-130 at play. I saw the A-10 a bunch of times at NTC, but that's not the same. Give me a few days, i'll get some grunts together for you. Sorry bout the delay bud. Long distance- The next best thing to being there. |

What I'm looking for is just a first hand account of an Avenger attack from a ground prospective. If you find someone I will email them questions and I would like a short story of what it was like. Thanks Sniper. Ugly but well hung! |

Heres' a story i got emailed to me Dice, if yer interested i can probably hook you up with the guy so you can get a detailed account. "The A-10 flew over my head acompanied by Cobras I believe to take out an IraqI tank group. I was with the 1st/502 Inf 101st Airborne division. This was after our landing and FOB Cobra. I was with a 60mm Mortar platoon. It was my first assignment in the Military. We were sent back to the landing site where we left a parachute bag (riggers bag) filled with about 30 60mm mortar rounds. Our shit was to heavy so we left it behind. Approximately 3 klicks from our AO. After, Specialist Jackson and I were sent out to get the rounds. We were contacted over the radio and heard the tanks were headed to our area. After realizing we may not have time to get back to the AO carrying the ammo, we started digging hoping they would pass over. THEN A-10, couple of cobras flew over and started to uload some damage. Although the distance was prett! y far it was enough visibility to realize they had just kicked a few tanks off the F$%king planet.. I remember... FOB Cobra" I havn't gotten nearly as many responses as i thought i would. Sorry, but i'll post info here as i get it. "We shall leave no man behind" |

Sniper, That's a good start and I thank you for helping me out with this! If he was close enough the see or hear the HEI/API rounds hit the target I would like to know what that was like. I've seen TP used but have never see live rounds...just what is that like? If you could hook me up with him that would be great and then I can pick his brain! Ugly but well hung! |
