Jackb, Philippe Colin sent me this and you can clearly see you were right on the saying on the nose. This was taken in Sept 02 and it looks like more of the art was painted but, the "sacry guy with a hat on" and the "twin-towers" was dropped. My guess is the guy was not PC enough and they didn't want to mess-up the tail number on the nose. Yeah, you can still see a bit of where the twin towers were though. I think one of the guys in my 7 level class now is from there, I'll check and if anyone is, I'll see if I can get them to send any pictures of anything they still have on the jets. We talked nose/door art a bit so far, but I can't really remember details right now plus I'm on borrowed time at the library typing this. I'll find out as much as I can before I leave and be sure to let you know any news. Oh, and kind of on the subject, I remember hearing a rumor a while back that the jets at Spang might be losing the "rat face" on the nacelle's; Well, some folks from there are in my class so I asked them and they said yup, they're all gone. The Commander there didn't like them not being the same as every other A-10 unit in the world so they are history. Thanks jackb, seems Naw-lin's has been one of the hardest units for me to find a contact at, or get any info from???? Anything you can get will really help-out. Ugly But Well Hung |
