Passing this on for some friends of mine. A1C Malarsie is a good friend of mine's troop. He's in some pretty bad shape but is being/has been airlifted from Germany back to Walter Reed.

Quote:
On 3 January 2010, the Tactical Air Control Party career-field took a devastating hit. As a JTAC team embedded with an
infantry company walked on a combat patrol near Kandahar, Afghanistan they were ambushed by numerous enemy soldiers.
SrA Bradley Smith was mortally wounded during this ambush and his ROMAD, A1C Mike Malarsie, was seriously injured.

At this time the TACP Association is calling on all of their brothers, friends, and family to lend a helping hand where you can.
We are working hand in hand with the families that have suffered this great loss, and doing what we can to make the transition
as smooth as possible.

From my friend (JTAC_Sean or Sean depending on the forum he's posting on)

Update:

SrA Smith arrived in the states today. Funeral details to be announced soon.

My wounded troop has arrived in Germany, but a new CAT scan of his right eye (he already lost the left eye) showed metal in it, so they immediately put him on a plane to Walter Reed where they have an eye specialist waiting for him.

Brad was a great guy. I've never seen someone push so hard at everything he did. He'll be missed. He's survived by his wife and newborn baby girl.

A couple updates...

SrA Smith's Funeral is on the 11th, and the Westboro Retards are going to be there. Thankfully, I've found out that there is going to be a strong Patriot Guard presence there.

SrA Malarsie is doing better at Walter Reed. His parents have started a blog to document his daily fight. http://www.mmalarsie.blogspot.com/

SrA Smith's funeral was a fitting tribute. It was very well done and the support from the Troy community was awesome.

Here's a toast...

I assume you attended? You may have met SSgts Casey and Taylor (one of the pall-bearers). We're working on getting a hold of Linkin Park as it is Mike's favorite band.

Some of you may have followed Mike's blog, but if you haven't, the surgery to save his other eye didn't go well, and he has lost both eyes. Hence trying to contact LP. So if anyone has any contact info/knows anyone, passing along the info would be greatly appreciated.

Great kids!

The blog is an incredible story, too.
