Yeah...I did.

I am about to open a can of worms here but the while the F-111 was the wrong plane for the TFX concept, the F-14 was the right plane for the job....I don't think anyone here can argue that the F-14 could not have done the job of both a Navy Strike Fighter, and a USAF Strike Fighter....As well as provided the needs for the IMI.

The F-15 has been great, but the Tomcat could have done it all.

If your not having fun, your not doing it right!

Yeah but the F-14 has that ability.....

It carries its ordance realitively drag free, alot of it, a long ways.....The VG wings give it the ability to go down low and fast.........The AWG-9 was then the state of the art, no other radar fire control system in the world could match it......The F-14D has the same strike ability, if not better than the F-15E(with the radar mods)...and its a better dogfighter. Really there is no reason why the F-14 could not have done it all.

Intresting, to say the least.

Say, I'm trying my best to look for Super-21 Tomcat pics., but to no avail. Know of any sites?

The D really is a whole new animal. In all honesty, by actual flight performance, very few aircraft match up favorably with it.

Excellent bomb load, excellent range and loiter, unmatched BVR capability, tremendous P/W ratio, VG wings, a 2d set of eyeballs, IRST/FLIR, modern digital radar, the D really has it all.
