In your opinion, what will be the best multi-role fighter of the world in the next 10 years ???

- The F/A-22
- The F/A-18
- The F-16
- The Raffale
- The Euro Fighter
- The SU-33
- Or maybe one of the 2 JSF ?

So...What do you think ?

IF we actually build the F/A-22 then that will be it, otherwise the F-35

The F-35 is really(looks wise), just a small, single engine F-22 without the bubbletop.

The planes don't look like identical twins, but they do look fraternal.

OK...in your opinion the F-35 and F/A-22 is better...

But thats two american planes...I think the SU-33 is good enough to fit the power of these two planes...(beside the VTOL ability of the F-35...)

And dont forget that the EURO-Fighter is a JSF too...

ROFLMAO well.... you cant argue with THAT can you LOL.

Warthog (shivvers even having to say that word in conjunction with such a nugget) you have to do some more (or any? ) research, before you can compare F-22 OR F-35 to anything thus far displayed by Sukhoi.

"All the other aircraft mentioned, except the EF, is like junk compare to the rafale"

Ummm....the F-22 is mentioned. You saying the F-22 is junk compared to the Rafale?

The Rafale represents technology that the US Aeropsace industry surpased in the mid 1970's. I would take a F-14/15/16/18 over a Rafale any day of the week...You include the AIM-120, and AIM-9X and its no contest, To mention the Rafale in the same breath as the F-22 Raptor is insulting to say the least. I would rate the current generation of Russian fighters above the Rafale, and the Saab Grippen between that and current US strike fighter designs.

When we talk multi role fighters...I think that it is wise to leave the F-22 out, despite its new F/A-22 designation, the plane is still first and foremost an air dominance machine. The F-35 is more of a multi role strike fighter than the F-22...

In all reality, with larger engines, the F-18E/F may prove to be the best strike fighter in US inventory in the next decade, from an avionics and weapons system standpoint the jet is impressive.

Note I said strike fighter..and the FAG ( fighter attack guys) Hornet communtiy invented the VFA strike fighter designation...my hat has always been off to the swing ability of the Hornet, just give the damn thing more peristance and ordanance bring back ability and It would be down jiggy with what is needed for a carrier borne maritime air superiority aircraft. Even the E/F only improves the fuel fraction from .23 to .30.

Bu the APG-73 is bad to the bone...

The E and F is an upgrade in bring back weapons ability. over the hornet.. It was one of its design goals

Yep...you are very right Glenn....

F-18E/F is what the Hornet always should have been, from a Naval Aviation standpoint.

I was a HUGE supporter of Rafale(yet ANOTHER military object named after a storm!!)early on, but as it matured I was highly dissapointed in it. I would agree spot on with drewsky in the placement vs the other aircraft, the JAS-39 is schweeet

the Rafale is the WORST fighter being feilded out of Europe at this time, if you dont believe me check the export numbers but it aint a pretty picture. Rafale may be slightly more stealthy than Eurofighter, but since the UK has had access to US stealth coatings and products going at LEASTE as far back as Desert Storm I wouldent even bet on that! Canards? canard is French for duck? wee wee? Duck is what a Rafale pilot should do in the presence of planes like Gripen and F/A-18E-F which are BOTH stealthier than Raf by a wide margin. LCD displays, wee wee? that is what Raf pilots wil be doing in thier flight suits if a F-15E with AMRAAMs gets an evil grin on it's face.

Rafale technology are nowhere to be found in yanks a/c. I don't see any delta with canards in the USAF......

Convair explored the delta configuration with the F-102 and F-106 series...The USAF has evaluated the delta/canard configuration, and if it was that much of an anvanatge do you not think it would be incorperated into aircraft such as the F-22 and F-35?
