Is it every time they hit something, or after they shoot? I think that after they shoot the gunners are yelling "Ready" or "Gun ready".

It sounded like "BOOM! GOT 'EM!" but I'm not sure.
Yeah it's OK to get excited after a kill but you're starting to annoy your crew members when you say the same thing over and over again.

Can you imagine a pilot constantly doing that "roger, over, dunn" joke from Airplane? lol

There were a few things yelled, actually. I think they were getting excited, as well as calling out hits and ready signals. Either way, I am sure most of it was necessary.

hi guys

first post so be gentle with me

did the mitchell conversion predate the German Henschel with the underslung gun in a gondola ? I have a kit of the latter to make and I have a feeling this was used prior to the Mitchell - I will bow to those with superior knowledge on the subject and look forward to the steep learning curve!...Loz.<img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

there were LOTS of planes with guns during the second world war, the Germans and Japs even had some with one of those recoiless "rocket guns" in the belly. The biggest gun I heard of was on a Junkers JU-288G it had a caliber of 14.37 inches!!! And yeah I'm somewhat familier with "pappy's" B-25, it was a nasty little SOB. We're talking about side firing gunships in this case since planes even had forward guns in WWI.
