I would have been nice to have given that design more consideration, lest a chance.

That being said, we now have what we have, now we need to make it work. But your right Sniper.

I agree with Boomer about his 'best CV plane being made" in regarding the SH as it all what the USN has right now since they have an assembly line.

But as to "the best CV plane ever?" I don't think I agree with as it too early to tell.

While based mainly on the Hornet's airframe, if you look at the depot, there are some serious fixes that needs attention. This could be worrying in the future as the SH gets more flight hours under its belt. Just something to think about.

Can you shed any light as to what kind of depot fixes it needs Data?

Thanx.

I think he's talking about the tail fatigue problems of the Hornet and wheather those problems will transfer over to the SH since it has a similar airframe. A main driver of THAT problem is the LERX and the turbulance it creates, SH has a differant ( and huger )LERX. Since this was a known Hornet problem from the early stages of SH developement it may or may not have that same problem.

Is this it JData or did you have other stuff in mind?

I know the F-18A-D has a problem with it's wingspars, but i thought he was referring to the E/F models.

Guess we'll have to wait and see what he comes back at us with.

The vertical fins were relived by the diffusers on the LERX on the Hornet ahwhile back.

What I am referring about is the F/A-18 Center Barrel Replacement. This requires airframe remanufacturing.

IIRC, the Hornets have lowered their max G for 'break' something like 3Gs already.

Yeah, i remember reading about that. It's a pretty serious problem.
