.....I wake up and on tv was Desert Storm. We saw on tv airplanes, video's of bridges, tanks and buildings that blew up. It was a weird time. I was collecting every news item in the paper (and still in mine collection). And now 15 years later, are we back in Iraq with the same weapons. Two things changed. Saddam is no president and Jr has now the job of Sr.
(when I wrote this, was it for me allready January 17th)

You are right. That was really something new back then. It was surreal to have live shots of defending Patriot missiles climbing to intercept SCUDs. I had the picture-in-picture on my TV working to have the commentary on one channel and three different vantage point pictures, all live. CNN was my personal spy intel service. Bomb damage assessments were done by us when F-117s dropped kitted MK-84s down the chimney of the enemy HQ. Air Raids were common during live reports. The reporters were always diving for cover because Tel Aviv and Riyadh were in SCUD range. I was both proud and relieved to see Western technology and trained people at work. Boy, did they kick ass then, (and continue to). They can't beat us on the battlefield, only in our minds.

Ninety percent of the game is half mental.

I was way to young to remember but I know one thing that dad was over there with the 23 TFW defending our country along with his fellow servicemen and Flying Tigers.

<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>Damn I am starting to feel old!
Beginning of GW1.....Hmmmmm...I was 29, had already served 8 years and seperated.

Although I was glued to every news report I could find, and saw several of the old gang from England that I knew. Several of the pilots on the news and the show shot for Discovery Channel later.
Mark "Rock" Clemons was one of my Faves! Saw him a couple times. And of course there was McSwain who narrarated the Dicovery show.

My prime interest was to attempt to monitor my younger brother who was with an Illinois national guard unit. He was a transportation troop picking up airborne guys and stuff like that.
In the end he seemed to have had a pretty good time of it. He ended transporting POW's and supplies to POW encampments.
