There was something posted on Fencecheck forum that the aircraft wasn't destroyed, just slightly damaged and should be able to be fixed for flight again.

Okay, wow... all the online stories are EXTREMLEY exaggerating. I got official word from the museum.

"The F-86 had a landing gear incident and substained minimal damage on the runway at Tucson. It should be repaired and flown back to Chino within a couple of weeks. There's probably a day's worth of work to do to it. It will still fly in the show, at this point. The plane was being flown by Heritage pilot Dale Snodgrass."

Not nearly as bad as the 'total loss' that is on all the news stories.

A 9mm has a bullet vent.

Man does this guy get around. Let me use Chadrewsky's line this time. "Dale Snodgrass is in the house". This close call reminds me another renowned pilot of F-14 aircraft, Chuck Sewell, who had a fatal accident flying a TBF warbird after a show. He did a lot of dangerous testing in the F-14 (& X-29) and ends up a victim of mechanical failure in a piston powered warbird. Go figure. It also happened to a guy I knew well here, Bob Lang, an F-15 driver. Flying those old military planes is dangerous sh**.

I was there when it happened and it was such a small deal that nobody knew it happened until the announcer told the crowd...
