Last week or so, somebody pointed out the C-5 being refueled by a KC-135 in Northern CA. Well that got me looking around and since then, I've found the Blue Angles C-130 parked at a Naval Air Station in Pensicola (SP) Florida, and a C-130 on final approach off the South end of the runway at Eielson AFB in Fairbanks AK. As I work for the US Antarctic Program with Raytheon Polar Services Company, I also looked at Christchurch NZ and found one of the NYANG's Ski equiped C-130s. The ones with the orange tails. How about the rest of you? Find anything cool? "Slow is Fast - Fast is Slow"

"Find anything cool?" Frank, where do I start? How about home. There is a bunch of Israeli F-16's parked on the TA ramp at Hill AFB Utah. I have found quite a bit of interesting stuff on my google earth wanderings. By Tucson you see Davis-Monthan and the boneyard there. A lot of Hawgs on the airbase and a lot of other planes at the boneyard. If you see Las Vegas than you can find Nellis afb. You can see planes in the colour of the enemy camouflage. Also good is Edwards afb (near Palmdale & Lancaster), two B-52 (NASA?) and old planes at there museum. Row on row trainers T-38. Last I found Dyess afb, you can see there B-1. In the topic about the Tanking C-5 by the C-135, you can read other tips. Salute Dutchy ------------------------ Termites do it in the dark! Edwards AFB. You've got to see this one. Just south of the main field is a smaller field, also with an E/W runway. About mid field to the north on a small north pointing parking ramp is a Global Hawk setting on the ramp pointed to the West. BTW Dutchy, DM AFB is almost the home of the A-10. check out area 51. two f-16 on a base that does not exist. the unmarked airliners for travel to the base according to rumor. two very long runways. that dont exists. Isolated hangers. wonder what inside lol Oh by the way no little green men

DM is holy ground if it is about Warthogs. Where can I find Area 51, Matlott? By wich place/city. ok now this is getting scary. NOT to name places but I have seen a u-2 on the ramp, an sr-71 on display, f-4 target drones, and I believe an f-22 on the ramp. THIS is not good too much detail. much more I have seen but not for posting to this board. Your thoughts guys.

now I am pissed off very little google imagery available on north Korea missle site. 1999 pics can be found here http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/dprk/facility/nodong.htm to get up dated google enter long/lat from above site.

getting even more pissed off now. None of the North Korean airbases have been photographed in detail. Do you know that the F-22s will/are based at Langly? So does everybody else, you dont need ( at best ) months old sat data to find THAT out. If you think a terrorist can find an F-22 on Google and then walk out on the ramp and blow it up, then the BIG problem is NOT the fact that they found out where it was. We've fragged a few F-22s on our own, wasnt the end of the world. Brownells calls me Aaron Burr cause the way I'm droppin Hamilton$

Mattlott, I find it. Thanks for the tip. Dutch airbases are also difficult to see. I think the problem is trees and other green stuff. Most bases what you can see very good in the US are laying in the dessert. And if you want an example that not every US base is good to watch. Than you must see at Spangdahlem or Ramstein. Last night I was talking about google earth with another crew chief, and how in the last week or so I've found and bookmarked every place I've been since I've been in the AF. I didn't look farther south than the Hawg Pens here though so I didn't see the 130, but he told me about that. I was very surprised about it here. Just a few months ago, all of AK was a green blob, zero detail. The only way you could even find the base was the runway is a straight grey line. Now you can practically see the door art. But heres what I don't get. I was sure this was very recent imagery, but lookign around the base, I see a building that has been around for a while in real life still under contruction on google earth. So what did they do? Take the pics a while ago but not get around to analyzing or computing wth them or whatever they do to make them clear until now? Al Jaber is a geat place to look at. It's from right after OIF. 9 of the 12 sunshades are gone, the new parking area just north of where the Kuwaiti F-18s are is there, the tents I stayed it on the compound are being wrapped up and the dorms they were building when I was there are all done. At Osan, the new Gens on the short side are finished, the new BX is done, the new dorms next to the Ginko are done. It's very recent, all those things were still not done when I left there. Bagram is relatively recent too. The mass parking area is all paved (the first tiem I was there it was a little paved strip with minefields all around), the keyholes are being built, there are B-huts everywhere, the phase clamshell is there, the maintenance building we had roll call in ther ethere now. I'd say the pics from Bagram is about 2 years old at max. The images at Pope are from late August to the late fall of 2003. The new wash rack is still being built and the 75th ramp is full while the 74th ramp is empty (the 75th returned from OIF in August 03 and the 74th took over. I remember becuase even though I was 75th, since I had orders to Korea and didnt go, we worked out of the 74th building and parking ramp, and about a week after I left, since the 75th personnel returned everything moved over to the 75th side of the ramp. Even off base is clear as hell. At the trailer park Lil Hitler and me lived at, you can point and say 'ok that was my trialer, there's Hitlers, that's Bases... www.googlesightseeing.com That has some cool pics that bored people sitting in their underpants all day find and submit. Shipwrecks, crop circles, buildings, etc. You might be a "Bulldog" if: You bend over and grab your ankles when you hear: "EXERCISE, EXERCISE, EXERCISE!"

I love google earth, and spend way too much time in my underware playing with it. (Googole earth that is) Take for example this old airbase in Russia just north of the China boarder; 48* 24' 43.23"N 135* 24' 39.70"E Looks like an old abandoned or reserve fighter base which a huge number of berms for aircraft. Nuclear protection? Looks inactive though.

Hey Mattlott, Don't get too wrapped around the axle on the clarity of the US vs other contries. First of all, the images that are released to Google are, for the most part, 2 years old or more. As for other countries, it's probably either a question of what they want released, or a matter of the fact that our government doesn't want to let them know, what we know. Thanks for the email on that North Korean Base. I checked it out this morning and the planes look like 2 different modles. The large twin engine looks a lot like the old Dakota or DC-3, which they are probably still using to this day. The smaller single engin birds are AN-2 Colts. These are old Russian Bi-Planes that are really stout haulers. They aren't real fast, but they can land anywhere carry a butt load of cargo and do it cheaply. The older models were also made from wood and fabric and are tough to pick up on radar. NK uses these often to insert small special ops teams as they can fly in low and slow then quickly climb to elevation to drop the team. Newer models of the AN-2, the AN-3T are still being produced in Russa today. They even flew one to the US's South Pole Station, but it broke down while there and was stuck at the south pole until replacement parts could be flown down the next year. It finally made it to McMurdo Station and from there was dismantled and flown back to Russa on one of their cargo birds. Northern Mariannes Islands/Saipan. Famous from second world war. Guam: there is a big airfield in the north with one C-5, several Hornets(I think, it is not sharp), two C-130 and the big bang..one B-1 bomber. Tinian: Airport under clouds, so you see not much. And in the north, it looks like the old runways for the B-29's (include Enola Gay and the Boxcar). Total other place: Diego Garcia 716'56.14"S 7227'40.16"E Lot of BUFF's.
