Where were these taken? Outstanding shots of those Rhinos. I guess the question should be...Where is Wittmund? I was stationed outside of Koln once-upon-atime. Edited by - eagle20899 on Nov 11 2006 13:37 |

Speaking of the old "Bent Wing Bug Smasher"........anyone remember a "Snoopy"? I was talking with one of the mechanics at work last night (Caterpillar), and we got to talking about our Air Force days. He did 10 years from like 74-84 or something like that. He had his tool kit on his shoulder and asked.....hey remember this tool? He reached in and pulled out a "Snoopy" We both had a laugh, as I hadn't thought of a tool like that in years! If you walked past a Rhino you had to know what a snoopy was. Most everyone got rid of 'em after common screwdrivers started gettin' ground down. Those jets sure could teach you a lot about creative mechanics. |

Creative mechanics for sure. Now lets not start discussing "Phantom Bites" I know we all have on our backs and/or heads! "If breathing wasn't a natural act, you would have been dead along time ago"! Gary Chandler, Old Friend & High School Teacher |

Bites.... The worst one I ever got was from an AIM-7 fin. Ours hardly ever flew with 'em so you never thought about 'em. Well.....Got caught in the side. The hole was there for two months. |

That A-4, if I have it correct is it an ex-Israƫl airforce plane. Saw them a few years ago on a airshow in Germany. Great Pictures Lazyweasel, enjoy it with the Phantoms. Because their time is coming. Hopsten ab is closed, no more Phantoms there<img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle> I was there on the last they of flying and salute to Hopsten. A Snoopy they gave me one when I retired and yes it did have the plastic handles not just F4 tape wrapped around it. And those are some great shots almost had to touch myself. If you are going to be dumb you have to be tough.(words from a old flight chief)I heard it a lot. Edited by - Goob on Nov 13 2006 18:29 |

Great Pictures, I just remember German "RF-4's" out of the 52 Jag's at Leck AB . We didnt see much else there.I didnt even know the Germans still flew F-4'S. Plus they had alot of "Aussie" tech's working on them it was strange. Goose LIVE FREE OR DIE! |

The radar in the Phantom is so much better than the MiG-29s that they STILL use them to direct the MiGs into a fight, kinda like a mini AWACS. "Fitz" is the tits! Brownells calls me Aaron Burr cause the way I'm droppin Hamilton$ |
