Nah I'm good with the Jug, the D model with the upgraded prop.

My favorite Corsair is the F4U-1C, with four 20mm guns. About 200 of 'em saw service in the Pacific.

My Grandpa said the F4U-1A was the one he worked on almost his entire time in the PTO and saw just a few F4U-1D's before getting wounded.
Really the F4U-4,5 and the special Marine Version the AU-1 for the Marines close air support made their Name in Korea where they proved theirself again.
Can you think what the GOODYEAR version would of been like the F2G if ever put into production and on the front line?
That would of been a "HOT ROD".

Bob Johnson, A P-47 Ace had modified his Supercharger stages, that Allowed him to put on an extra 100 Knots. Him and his crew Chief were allways tinkering with it. The Jug was a Great E-Fighter, they killed allot of Focke Wolfe's and 109's from their boom and zoom tactics.

I was watching a show on History last night where an SBD Dauntless took on 3 Zeros and won!!! After that fight the pilot transferred to Wildcats, and in a later mission killed 7 Jap airplanes in one day.

The same show also featured the story of \"Old 666\", a super-heavily armed B-17E that took on 17 Japanese fighters at once, shot down 4 of them, and somehow still made it home. 2 members of the crew were awarded the CMoH, and all the others were awarded the DFC.

Geez, if I were Robert Johnson, I would've done everything in my power to take that battered bird home. After all, she took HIM home!!
