TT, if I seemed emotional, I wasn't , I actually had a migrane and couldn't sleep. Emotional happens when people TOTALLY negate debate and go right for the below the belt.

More or less, that applies to noone here.

I'm just want to take a sabatical with this aformentioned topic, meaning I will come back to it eventualy; I'll talk about anything else you want...Naval doctrine, famous admirals(Bill Halsey a favorite), naval weapon systems, the Raiders, the Sox, how Ted Williams is the greatest, etc.

(Oh Tritonal, just give him what he wants)

Art in technology, top this.
I'm not that big on the aesthetics of the Tom(I thought it always had a clumsy look to it) But this is a great pic.
This is pure CAP-Even I couldn't disagree with.

This is not appeasement, I just couldn't pass this up. If I find a SH picture that magnificent(and I'm searching), it's going up before you can say- IOC.
Debating and posting pics are two different things
And your right with the Halsey statement
Something to hold you over:

Never saw a 6 Phoenix set-up with AIM-9's.

My one favorite shot of Toms: back-ariel view of total sweep-very graceful, like a big paper airplane

Air Superiority like the Tomcat and the Eagle have a majestic and austere look to them. Multi-role fighters like the Falcon and Hornet have a sleek, sports car appearance to them. IMO

Both Halsey and Spruance had their place, and filled it VERY well. The trick was getting them to the right location at the right time. lol

I guess that makes the A-10 the pick-up truck, first choice when there is dirtwork to be done. Rugged ,reliable, fearless! It aint untouchable but it can SURE touch back with a vengance!!

hmmm...I went looking for a pic of my favorite F-14 squad(Jolly Rogers of course, is there a better tail art!!) and found this oddity. Anyone care to expand on this pic? It appears to be one of the developmental Toms with MK-82s(perhaps MK-83s) on the centerline racks, but oddest of all, AGM-45 Shrike ARMs on the glove pylons!! Obviously a SEAD proposal but never seen THAT before!! Anyone have a time frame for it? LSNED
