Those are Test Strain Gauges on the primary pitot, Used for measuring Loads in the 4 Axis's {specificaly these operate as a pitot sending unit to the 4 axis FLCS Computer} These pitot Strain Gauges Measure, G Force Applied, Accelerometer, KIAS, and Loads in all 4 Axis, all of this Data IS collected Independently and relayed to the Flight Test Engineering Control Center. There is a million differnt way that Strain Gauges are designed and used and located throughout the aircraft. They range anywear from measureing Hydraulic Pressure in fuel Lines at Extreme Flight Regimes to measuring Bulkhead Plyability and Torsions Stress Form Factors. All of this Data is Crucial in Proofing Paper vs reality. |
