To the same standard that the rest of us has been trained. Most of the Schools are becoming Joint. But for the Airframe training they are mostly service specific schools.
In the navy, atleast in my era. All pilots went through the T-45 Goshawk A2g Training. Degrade bombing "Red baron manual method" This is not easy and requires you to use the depressable Mil piper gunsite. Flying the correct Dive angle, Speed, and release Cues. this is not an easy task. In the navy this is the differnce between earning the right to have a Hook on your aircraft and being a Fighter pilot in the Navy and Marine Corps. If you fail your proppen hercs or P-3's.
The airforce is more Track specific. For example if your slated for Tankers. You will never fly the Fighter Specific Courses. The Airforce does not require it. We have a much broader spectrum of Aviation assets.
The Navy on the other hand is largely Combat carrier Aircraft. Their selection process is much differnt from the Air Force.
The Services all have a high standard to maintain. Training squares to fill to maintain their mission Qualification and proficieny as well as all the competitions that take place. Competition is a good thing. It is the life of a US fighter pilot. You can guarantee at any bombing range in use with multiple services will foster its own competition. Theirs allot at stake, In pride, bragging rights and unit accomplishment.
Now you add in joint Exercises in the US and Abroad with Foriegn Militaries. In the end you have the most well rounded and Efficient Fighter pilots.
In Combat. Its this experiance and Confidence gained from all of the above. That allows you to focus on rolling in on a target. Putting the piper on a badguy, While hes shooting at you. And destroy it to a succesfull outcome. This can only be gained by the Competitive Enviroment we have in the US Military.
My opinion is this. If hes Mission qualified. Hes better than any foriegn pilot out there. He has had to earn his right to do what hes doing.
I think that should answer your question.
