Heres a boondoggle in the making:

B-1 RECONSTITUTION WILL COST $3 BILLION; ACTION ON HOLD, USAF SAYS
Bringing almost two dozen B-1 bombers out of retirement will cost the Air Force $3 billion between fiscal years 2005 and 2009, according to a senior Defense Department official.

Heres more on this:

sorry for going off topic...but that is a cool website...you can look at the inventory and see the tail numbers that are currently at AMARC....Kinda cool...

The B-1s...when they left Robins many people were worried about their jobs (with good reason) but then ended up moving those guard personnel over the the JSTARS and are now a joint active duty/guard unit...

Brought to you by your friendly neighborhood moderator.....<img src=newicons/icon_hog.gif border=0 align=middle>

If you can't go fast...go Ugly

There could be a new Dale Brown novel in the making here.

By this time tomorrow I shall have gained either a pearage or Westminster Abbey........Nelson

gotta say though, it would be hella cool to see a strike package rolling in at mach.9 under the wing of an escorting EB-1B !

I have an image of a EB-1B popping over a ridgeline at 600kts and loosing a salvo of HARMs at enemy radar sites, lol.

A Bone could probably carry a couple hundred HARMs, lol.

Considernig the B-1's history, my mental image is of an EB-1B popping over a ridgeline, flipping on its EW gear and frying its strike package, along with itself, all in formation right into the ground...

They say, "To understand a man, you have to walk a mile in his shoes," but his clownshoe proved a most uncomfortable fit.

If they replace the EA-6B with EB-52/01's, things are goijng to get real crowded, real fast on the carriers!<img src=newicons/anim_lol.gif border=0 align=middle>

Hajji, you can run, but why die tired?

lol, it would only take about 10-15 CVs end to end (with retractable superstructures) to provide the distance lol Timing of sea state would be criticle lol Could probly just snag the fantail with the braking chute for landing? right? right?

It seems in the US, the F14 and F111 were the last to go with( you forgot
the B-1) I hate to admit it but I worked these pigs, and they had more
hydralic leaks on the wings than the B-52s. <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>
