Got a chance to see an unclass briefing on this sucker at Eglin a couple weeks ago. All I can say is....unbelieveable. The only way to defeat it is to (somehow) get yourself in a flat scissors directly beneath and in-sync with the bandit. This missile will totally change BFM...really make it go away in the traditional sense... ATTACK!!!!!!! |

And still people wonder why we chose the AIM-9X over the AIM-132. "The worst football halftime show is still better than a soccer game." - Ron "Tater Salad" White. |

Cool. I hope the -9X gives the Python 4 and AA-11 a good run for their money. |

AA-11 is limited to a 40 Deg FOV and the Processors have a Very Bad Sensory lag, which prevents them from aquiring SCHLEM in a Merge or High aspect shot placements. It really only allows you to engage a bandit on the forward 10-1 Line. On top of this the system has no Uncage Capability. IF you dont have Sensory lock the System will not fire. The biggest advantage is the missiles 90 Degree or/180 total Field Of View and the JHMCS with complete integration into the Fighters Computer. Add in JTIDS sensor slaving in the flight. In Missile Manuever Comparison the 9x outperforms Lead/Lag pursuit capability ofthe Python 4, Some may recal that the Python series is the first missile to track and kill a 180 Manuever target (it basically looped 360 Deg. ) THE JHMCS/JTIDS SLAVING OF THE 120 is Another Asset to have. Well Curt, i could start at the first line of your post and not stop gashing deep cuts into until the last, but i'll leave that for the actual pilots on this forum to do. What I want to hear is a classic MrMudd rectal-cranium inversion reversal technique demonstrated on one of Plummer's posts. Give me some of that good old prior-enlisted Marine ass-chewing, with enough Jeremiah Weed on the breath to make Ted Kennedy pass out, combined with the knowledge that comes from flight test and having been there-done that in a variety of different platforms. Now THAT would be entertaining! ATTACK! |

To be honest i thought i'd banned Plummer from this forum a couple years ago. Guess not... LOL "One should die proudly when it is no longer possible to live proudly." ~ Friedrich Nietzsche |

Judging by the fact it says 5 posts, I think he used a loophole to get back in. "The worst football halftime show is still better than a soccer game." - Ron "Tater Salad" White. Edited by - BenRoethig on Nov 30 2004 05:03 AM |

Must say I'd have to rely on Mudd to respond to this one...he's the expert. Though I did have a wicked difficult time understanding 90% of what Plummer said...and I work in this business...granted as a lowly (ex) Hawg guy and not a BFM specialist. But if I understand it correctly, Plummer just insulted Mudd something fierce. BTW, the Aim-9X is currently fielded in Eagle squadrons (namely Elmo to help make up for their poor showing vs the Indians last year). Don't know where he's getting his info but sounds like he's looking at it through a soda straw. In any event, it's an awesome missile especially coupled with the Helmet Mounted Cuuing System. Puts AA-11 to shame... ATTACK!!!!!!! |

Plummer's game is weaving a cloak of confusion through techno-babble to appear as an expert. I've had it out with him before on other boards. He's a fake and a troll, don't waste any of your time trying to decipher his nonsense. "One should die proudly when it is no longer possible to live proudly." ~ Friedrich Nietzsche |

Kurt didn't take his banning too well.
