This will cause the JSF to look less attractive relative to cost, which will also make the F-22 look better by comparison. That's OK with me. We could use some time off the "most expensive and worthless aircraft ever" list.

AIR FORCE CHIEF SEES SMALLER BUY OF JSF: The USAF probably will order fewer F-35 JSF’s than the current official plan, Gen. John Jumper, Air Force chief of staff, said Tuesday. The $244B program is intended to replace the F-16 as the Air Force's workhorse fighter plane. Current Air Force plans call for 1,763 new planes, but that number hasn't been updated in some time. "I think that we will see an overall decrease in the JSF total requirement," Jumper told reporters. Jumper said he wasn't prepared to discuss the size of the cuts, which some observers have said could number in the hundreds. (Dow Jones)

See what I mean?

KORB…ADD SOLDIERS, CUT SYSTEMS IF NECESSARY: The size of the Army should grow significantly, and the Pentagon should cut its spending on national missile defense, the F/A 22 Raptor aircraft, submarines and other systems to pay for that increase if necessary. That's according to a panel discussion held yesterday in Washington led by former DoD official Lawrence Korb. Such moves could mean taking funds from the MDA, the Air Force and the Navy to fund an expansion of Army personnel numbers. Korb advanced his view just as some lawmakers in Congress, such as Rep. Curt Weldon, vice chairman of the HASC, are saying that the nation can't afford three separate fighter aircraft programs: the Air Force Raptor, the multi-service F-35 JSF, and the Navy F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. Because the Super Hornet already is operational, and the JSF is a major int’l weapons development program, that leaves the Raptor built by Lockheed Martin as the most likely to be cut or killed. Korb would add at least 86,000 soldiers to the Army. It's too late to kill the Raptor, the USAF just started taking deliveries.

The F-22 is safe now IMO.

I hope your right Snipe...

Grumman Aerospace felt the same way about the F-14D before the program was killed as the USN was integrating the jet into the fleet...

If I was King for a Day.

We don't need to be in Korea or Germany anymore. Our economy needs this cash Flow.

Indeed! How come there are not protest groups demanding the end of the "military occupation" of these places?

You come into this world defenseless. That's why God gave us baseball bats. Well, he gave us trees. But we knew what he meant.
