the world east of bagdad keeps getting hotter would the f-22 squadrons be ready or is it too early in their development cycle to expect to see them in combat. Not asking for any secretes. I know the f-15E were rushed into gulf war one during their development cycle but are we talking apples and oranges. I just dont see the Iranian airforce staying on the ground after what happened to the Iraqi air force better to fight and dye then have no chance at all. Been doing some reading does anyone know how many iranian f-14 are still operational? |

Actually the F15E crews were not Rushed! as A Wing was allready standed up, and Mission Qualified. What they had ment at the time was that They were still in some Engineering stages of Product improvement and also at that time they were developing a War plan for the aircraft. It had some logistic shortcomings (lantirn other avionics stuff) but it was "In the hands of an operational squadron" IT is not in the same Context of where the Raptor is at. Their would be enough to complent an expeditionary capability. But in essance. IF the Hammer was to fall today i would not expect to see a Wing of F22's over hostile territory. The F15C's Will Do fine as they have been Improved very well since 9/11 and are integrated quite well with some particular F22 Technology . "RickUSN- That was intelligent and useful Mudd. so at best you might see a handful out there for very specfic uses, and not deployed for high tempo combat sorties. |

Well if history is any indication of the way we do things. I wouldnt be suprised if their Was a Singular assasin roaming the Battlefield for Pure Curiosity sake. With the Fiscal Budget war that is taking Place. I can Guarantee the AF will Want to Go beyond putting Lead on paper, and Have a Few "Real Scalps" to parade to congress. lol for just congress or to make a world wide statement also. From what I read that lone assin could quickly become the first aces since vietnam and first double digit ace since korea and never be seen in the process. |

Also Most importantly. The US Fighter Aviation Community has heard enough about the cleverly designed premadoona War Machine, and want to know how it really holds up in a "Full no holds bard Steel Cage match" And not about a well rehearsed Dogfight scenario over a test range. Only so much Air Guitar one can play..... "RickUSN- That was intelligent and useful Mudd. But it certainly is what Ive come to expect. THE RAMPTOR ENGINEERING TEAM "Who cares if it works? Does it look good on the ramp?" |

But take them well enough that It well never need to flex its muscle. Due to the amount of Fear it places in the Psyche of our advesaries. To me this ranks up their with the Viking long Boats, Gunpowder, and P51. This means so much more to my personal reflection as a war fighter than a Cheezy Certificate, entry into a Service Record Book or third world labor produced peice of cloth.
