I was jsut at a college expo and I talked to a navy recruiter. We got to talking and I thought I heard him say the F-22 is making its way to flight decks. I tought in my head he was mad. This plane seems too fragile and not "navy" enough. Does he know anything or am i just too thick headed?

He's full of shit. If a Raptor tried to land on a carrier, it'd end up in the drink.

It wouldn't necessarily end up in the drink.....but it would end up with its gear shoved up through the wheel wells. Its not set up for carrier ops. Recruiters will tell you anything that you want to hear.

Half the time recruiters don't know jack about aircraft. They come from all walks of life and many of them have never even been around an aircraft.

Case in point, I was sitting in the Atlanta airport a year ago and overheard a conversation between a recruiter and an older gentleman. The man asked about the Thunderbirds and the type of aircraft they flew, the recruiter proceeded to tell him that they flew the A-10 Thunderbolt II. It was at this time that I almost choked on the soda I was drinking and rather than create an incident and humiliate that poor recruiter I decided to walk away in tears of laughter. Had to be the hardest thing I have ever done.

They would look pretty in the Red,White and Blue as in BUDWISER BEER

Reminds me of our college expo with the AFROTC display with a glitter silhouette of a MiG-29 taking center stage. For kicks, I asked them what kind of aircraft it was, and they said "F-15," whereupon I pointed out an Eagle picture on their poster and how they didn't match. They then went on to claim it was an "F-22," so I pointed out the F-22 photo nearby. They then hid behind the display wall and I departed shaking my head wondering about the status of our AFROTC program.

Come to think of it, I now wonder who they asked to build it, because who constructed it MUST have known what they were doing and decided to pull a fast one.

LOL... You've got a nasty streak <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>...

Does anybody else think it kinda wrong to try to recruit folk into the US Air Force with a commie jet taking centre stage (unless of course it had a big "You get to shoot these down" sticker on it...

stress isn't that what they said about the U2 and c-130.

That never word always bites someone. lol

also can we qualify what we mean by landing? On all wheels or belly up? lol

Have a great day--just saw this post and keep thinking of the c-130 being landed on a carrier.
