It doesn't mess up the avionics, the avionics take up most of the bay...main reason is the ammount of ammo...

How much does the F-15/-16 carry? I know the F-22 carries 480 rds.

I don't know the exact loadout for F15s, we don't do any loading of weapons at Depot...

Why did I think that? I could have sworn that I heard a story once that when the F-16 fired the cannon it screwed up the avionics so bad they had to refit the whole system. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I think the E model carries 640rds...still more than a tight pack F-16, that has 515rds.

The C is 940rds i think.

Defense Watch: News from Defense Daily (Posted: Monday, June 09, 2003)
[June 9, 2003]

Thou Dost Protest Too Much! After Robert Coram wrote a scathing op-ed in the May 27 New York Times criticizing the Air Force's plan to retire the A-10 fleet, Air Combat Command (ACC) vice-chief Lt. Gen. Bruce Wright penned an e-mail highly critical of sources who assisted Coram in obtaining information that contributed to his op-ed, according to a non-profit watchdog. "Please look your staffs in the eye and offer that if one of our officers is complicit in going to Mr. Coram, without coming to you or me first with their concerns, they ought to look hard at themselves, their individual professionalism, and their personal commitment to telling the complete story," Wright says in a memo obtained by the Project on Government Oversight. -------------

So much for free speech and the truth. The grunts love the Hog and it gets the job done efficiently.

Ain't enough pork in the Hog, so the Stars and Critters don't care.

You can find the entire memo @ www.pogo.org it's in Adobe otherwise I would had bagged it.
