Well - I had to put my Monogram A-10 to one side for a week or so while I waited for the Verlinden detailing set to arrive from Hannants here in the UK.

The fuse wings are now fully scribed & I can now get on with the building. The Verlinden cockpit tub & ejector seat look fantastic, and should paint up very well. I don't know about fit yet though, as I've not had a chance to take a look-see.

The updates include a couple of panels on the sides of the fuse, with etched brass parts for the compartment doors, full detailed cockpit, the transparent blister thing (the name of which escapes me, and and unknown (to me) door underneath the fuse, just aft of the GAU-8 and the front landing gear bay. I've no idea what's supposed to be in there, and the weird thing is, there's no contents to glue behind the cut-out. That'd look extremely crap, so I have two choices 1) leave it off 2) get some detailed photos of the compartment and detail it myself.

Anyone know what's supposed to be in there? I can email a scan of the instructions if my description isn't clear enough. To recap, it is a door that is situated under the main fuse, just aft of the GAU-8 and front landing gear leg. It spans almost the width of the fuse, but isn't very wide - at 1/48th scale, it is 2.9cm x 0.9cm, so should be about 1.40m x 43cm or 56" x 17" in Imperial inthe real world.

Any info, pics or suggestions would be gratefully received. Special thanks goes to Jackb for all the photos he's emailed me.

Don't know what you're talking about Mike, there are no transparent door(s) on the A-10, please email me the instructions and I will take a look. phatom2@aol.com

Here's a good look at the bottom of the aircraft in flight....

My mistake - I thought the sensor blister on the gear pod was transparent - a smoky grey or black. It's where a bunch of sensors are, but I can't think of the name for it. :oS It hinges down for access though.

As to the access door underneath the plane, I'd say it was probably in the middle of the fake cockpit area, aft of the landing gear bay. I'll try & get a scan of the instructions tomorrow if I'm still not making myself clear!

Mike.

Mike, the left gear pod houses the Single Point Refueling port (hinges down) and the right pod houses the ILS antenna and is painted gloss black.

I will look at the instructions when you can get them scanned.
