Every year on the week of the 24th of July Ogden celebrates what they call Pioneer Days. It's a celebration of the first pioneers arriving in the Slat lake valley and Ogden's foundation. There are rodeos, parades, food and everything western. This year is the 83rd (if I remember right) anniversary of the first Pioneer days celebration. They have when all out this year and had added something pretty cool, I think. They built 83 full scale fiberglass horses and had them painted by local artists. They are painted with everything under the sun as themes and have been placed around the downtown streets of Ogden.

Two of them are Air Force themed and I snapped pictures of them today as I was doing some treasure hunting in the local antique shops. I thought you guys/gals might like them so here they are. The Hill AFB one was in a heavy shadow so it hard to see the American eagle on it's backside and the B-2 under it but, I'm going over this weekend and try to shoot all of them...hopefully I'll get a better shot of the Hill AFB one this time.

The reason I put them here is...there is an A-10 on the Hill AFB horse. 8)

Nice ones. Really love the first though. 8)

They do the same thing in Rawlins WY every year, except instead of horses, they are FG Proghorn Antelopes. You see some really great art, but no AF themes.

They are pretty cool and I found out this is the 75th anniversary and so there are 75 of these around the town. I guess it's a common practice but, I thought these AF themed ones were cool. 8)
